Relations between India and China have been tense for decades. They share the longest disputed land border in the world – and are vying for influence in the Indian Ocean. Could tensions escalate further?

Comments: The theory of Croatians being originally from Iran has been around for awhile. Mass migrations were common in old times, as we suspect Gitanos ( koulis) of Spain and Central Europe having been originally from India that migrated westerly via Iran towards Europe. Much earlier in history and in different eras of extreme cold weathers historians suspect migration of Aryian and Turani ( turkish) nomadic tribes westerly, respectively settling in parts of Europe, India, Iranian plateau , Anatolia and Central Asia. During Sasanid era, as Sasani kings fell under influence of Zoroastrian celergy, suppression under rule of religion gave rise to new movements ( religions) namely mazdaki ( social justice) and Manavi ( spiritual). Followers of both religions were heavily persecuted and remaining members ended up migrating to where their cousins ( Mitraist) had moved to. In fact some credit rise of Christianity in Europe to presence of Mitraist elements in social and philosophical spheres of Europe. Few centuries later history witnessed westerly movement of Khazar Turks from present day Southern Russia towards Poland and Ukraine ( the non Jewish Jewish population aka the 14th tribe which doesn’t sit well with the Zionist ideologiests). If they can go beyond the theory and can find actual proof, some researchers suspect that settlers of current day Croatia may have been descended from Mani followers residing in Qafghaz and Current Iranian Azerbaijan. I believe the strongest case so far has been the name itself ( which is somewhat significant but not enough) vs solid genealogical connections, which has proven to be difficult. Mani settlers presumably intermixed with a new wave of settlers , Slavs, moving south to the area, The local pronunciation of the name Croatia , Hravat, has strong resemblance to Khoravat" as mentioned in Avesta, meaning "friendly. Similarly and in smaller scale a case could be made for a subgroup of Serbs, as the word Serb has also Iranian origin, which can be recognized in the word "Charv" meaning cattle. And as we know post Islamic invasion, we have had Parsis that moved from Iran to India. My 12000 toman

Comments: Farzad, usually they don’t announce the list prior to the last league games before TM game. There are games scheduled for this Sunday. The only certainty is Mohebi, per his club
Comments: Comment about Lex; He is the same with everyone else. He doesn't debate people. He lets them completely explain their own thoughts and tries to understand their perspective. He treats everyone the same. If you want someone to just argue and tell the guest they're wrong, Lex is not the person to watch for that.

Comments: Linguistic evidence suggests that the Croats originate from northwestern Iran and spoke a language related to Iranian. By the time the Croats appear in historical documents, they are a Slavic nation. During the Avar expansion into the Balkans peninsula, the Croats moved into what is Croatia today.
Comments: Yes Shahin, Lex Fridman podcasts are all Aces. very intelligent guy. Balanced and unbiased (at least as a host). I enjoyed his podcast with Jared Kushner. Very interesting stuff.
Comments: Farzad, very accurate measuring stick. Pizza at Costco 9.99. Nose bleeders for Galaxy at least 50. For LAFC you need 10 pizzas.
Comments: Farzad, with all that ticket price info you gave I'll be using Pizza as the measuring stick for ticket prices.

Comments: KAmkAr. Football is not used as an industry in Iran. The ticket to a game in iran is like one or two dollars. Just like here in the US to watch a football game at Sofi or AT@T or a basketball game at Crypto.com you have to pay high $$$ for the game. Sofi parking is $150. Same is true in Europe. What I am trying to say is that the ticket pricing should be adjusted so that you can see people from various socioeconomic in attendance. AGAIN THIS IS NORM EVERYWHERE. Even though most fans are from lesser status communities. . Price of a decent MLS seat is like $180 - $200. And the cheapest around $50. A $200 ticket is the price of 10 large pizzas on Average for decent seats and 3x large pizza for cheapest seat. So how much is a large pizza in iran? Multiply it by 5 and that should be your average ticket price in iran.

Comments: Speaking of Reza Shah roohesh shad… Abbas Milani explains who he was and what he did. One thing that is always amazing to me is praise of Reza Khan not only by ordinary Iranians but also praised by many with liberal views. Even though by any definition he is/was considered a dictator. Even softer Mohammad Reza shah with more democratic views was seen as The Dictator.

Comments: That was really ugly to see so many bottles and rocks being thrown at the players and even injuring the assistant referee. I don't want to preach to the choir but we all know that we have some of the most unruly so called fans in the world. Yes, you have the hooligans here and there but you barely see them act the way our fans do. when I visit home I sure go to Aryamehr for a game. It's been like a 30 year old ritual for me. Even before I arrive I check the game schedules and hope to get a top notch one, but if not, I don't care if it's a آب فاضلاب game. The type of language and profanity you hear in there is mind bugling. Most of the time I force my poor nephew to go with me reluctantly. So I asked him why is it you feel that way? Amoo, you will not find one person in the stadium who lives North of 24 of اسفند. Might sound a bit inappropriate but that's a fact. Sadly people coming from lower socioeconomic act a certain way that will cause incidents like the one we witnessed yesterday. Adding to that is the repression that's going on in our country. The youth feels frustrated and needs to somehow let out some steam. Thank God alcohol is not served in the stadium. There would be blood bath in "Azadi" if they did. The red and blue fans are also separated with one big section of the seats empty in between the two side. The opposite is the game in the Mexican league. You'd see twice the crowd, Most of them drunk and not separated by the color of their teams. After the game they go home peacefully. We have a lot of learning to do!

Comments: I agree Shahin, it is a football thing... thank god they stick to bottles and not nArenjak. But the thing that is sad is go out to tabi'at in iran and you will see all the hazardous trash left behind by the visitors. From plastic bags, to plastic bottles, and......
Comments: that was a nice goal by Azmoun. But i guess technically it can be called a foul.
Comments: I believe that has to do with football more than fans in Iran. You see that every where not to condone it though

Comments: Farzad, I would rather see the fans refraining from those bottle-throwing acts than those singing those chants. What would have the روح رضا شاه said when seeing those stones and bottles injuring the players & refs?? IMO, All these ناشایست acts by the fans have congruency with the بد اخلاقی هایه players on the pitch. Mannerism & ethics are not achieved by watching EPL or the Japanese/Korean' fans in Azadi; but rather by practicing them at every game- at home & abroad.

Comments: Wow, I just saw the el clásico score. The Chivas lost so bad at home that the 2-3 win in Azteca didn't help them. they're so much behind us because they didn't ban the women VAR referees :)
Comments: Shahin it's a bummer for me. I won't be able to see the El Clásico Mexicano. Glad you had the experience. First time I saw the game was in early 90's when my son was only two years old. I went to Azteca against all my wife's relatives and I'm glad I did. I think that had a big impact on my two year old. To keep him safe I had to have him on my shoulder almost the entire game. |
