Winning the cup or events by the host nation have always been subject to controversy. Shit happens and I don’t doubt it. The hosts millions time after time , so a little home field/ court advantage shouldn’t be surprising.

 

But my issue is looking at this so one sided. Didn’t we do it before when we had the chance of hosting? So many stories of “ our hosting “ that didn’t go well with our competitors.

In koshti many of our world level medals were questionable

Yes, we have also been victims of seemingly unfair situations and calls.

 

But it is my observation that not many make such a fuss about these situations except middle eastern, particularly Iranian and Iraqis.

 

 

Sometime in 80s I was in Netherlands with a group of friends. We encountered a group of young Iranian men ended up having beer with them. The subject of football was naturally introduced and 78 WC.

 

The Iranian guys were more vociferous and emotional in accusing Argentina of having cheated to the WC title. Valid subject. But the level of anger shocked the Dutch friends! They could care less. It was forgotten. To them , it was about moving forward

But KAmkAr. Your angle and my angle is from TV. Ref happened to be right there. The other thing ref goes by is the angle the ball is moving after the incident. And the route the ball took could have only happened if Qatari player touched the ball.

 

Anyways Faghani said he whistled in favor of iran. 1) Not calling the Pk (VAR had to interfere) and Faghani said even after VAR it was not a PK. 2) giving only yellow to Shoja (and VAR had to convince him to give Shoja a red).

 

These are not signs of biased ref.
