The number of needy and the level of poverty is so high that small scale philanthropy efforts seem non effective.

 

There are still many in Iran and Iranians abroad that extend helping hand.

 

But is being done directly. The trust in institutions have eroded. Occasionally you will have figures like Ali Daei that people trust, but Islamic republic won’t let them operate in this capacity.

 

During Bam earthquake I witnessed first hand what happens to the aid and who benefits from the help. Even foreign countries that were a major source of help during the disasters have realized that.

 

People that can, still help . But for most they need to trust the facilitators. Even among athletes I know there are non organized groups of the ones that are better off to give a hand for less fortunate.

 

Besides shah Gholam’s efforts here, I know Mojtaba and Ali Jabari have been active in this regard.

Shahin. The Iranian culture we know of has changed drastically in the past 45 years. Greed and gharatgari is the name of the game. No one I mean no one helps these guys.

 

Faramarz Zelli, Javad Allahverdi, and Akbar Eftekhari widow which I know you help personally say the same thing. Ali Parvin, hossein Kalani are relatively doing well. They don't even establish something for pishkesvats. I mean someone like Ali Parvin has so much influence.

 

Mohammad Nasiri did not accept the $1000 that was sent by Shah Gholam Vafakhah. He has so much pride. Gholam sent it to his wife, yavAshaki.
