After Biden admin gave a signal that they will not be supporting much additional aid to Ukraine, Russia has started hitting Ukraine's large cities. I think in 2024 you will see this war end with Ukraine agreeing to give up territory

Spaniard released from year imprisoned in Iran says he is planning a return

MADRID, Jan 2 (Reuters) - A Spanish soccer fan who returned to Spain on Tuesday after spending more than a year detained by the Iranian authorities on espionage charges told reporters at the airport he was already planning his return to the Islamic Republic.

Santiago Sanchez, who set out to walk to the Qatar World Cup from Spain, entered Iran on his way and was detained after visiting and photographing the burial site of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish woman who was arrested for allegedly flouting mandatory dress code and died in custody.

The Iranian embassy in Madrid announced his release on New Year's Eve and he touched down at Madrid's Barajas Airport at around 1 p.m. (1200 GMT) on Tuesday.

"It has been very long, very hard but I am here in my country," a jubilant Sanchez told reporters at the airport after an emotional reunion with his family and friends.

"We are not aware of how fortunate we are to have been born here in this country," he added, referring to Spain.

He called Spain's ambassador to Iran, Angel Losada "a real phenomenon and master of negotiation."

But as he addressed Losada in his remarks, he said: "I will probably go back to Iran, even if you told me not to."

He said he wanted the Iranian authorities "to understand that you cannot say no, that you have to let people free. If you put a fence in front of me I'm going to jump over it."

Sanchez was last heard of on Oct. 1, 2022, when he sent friends a picture of himself on the Iraq-Iran border with the caption: "Entry to Iran".

The sad thing was that Germany, Belgium and Sweden don't look like they used to.  I have no idea what Belgiums originally looked like.  All of these countries putting measures to do something about what is happening to them.

The number of Muslims in Europe has grown from 29.6 million in 1990 to 44.1 million in 2010. Europe's Muslim population is projected to exceed 60 million by 2030.

After spending a couple of months in europe and then being back in the USA (california), I have to confess / admit, what a paradise we live in and how much we take the beautiful california weather for granted.

Spent time in Sweden, Brussels, Germany. Took a quick flight to Lisboa and met my friend who owns a hotel in portugal.

Malibu Foz ***** | 5-Star Resort in Portugal | By La Maison Younan.

Was tired of the gray skies, so took a 5 day trip to Marrakech, Morocco. What a great town, people and what a country.  Learned about the origin of the Berbers... did not know about the large jewish communbity in Morocco.

Beautiful people.

We are also missing a player like Dejagah. I think he is the most under-rated player in recent years. I liked his direct and go at the defender energy, no one can do that now

What TM lacking is a dominant midfield general. We always had that in our history from Ghelichkhani, to Ghayeghran to Bagheri to Nelounam. Ezzat is not that person and certainly Cheshmi & Omid Ebrahimi also are not that. Its a combination of skills and personality

Saudis are trying to bring the best derbies around the world to play in Saudi Arabia. They had Galatasaray vs Fenerbakhcheh last week but they game was cancelled as the turkish fans brought flags & pictures of Ataturk which was meant to be a political gesture. The game was cancelled. I think there are now interested in getting Perspolis-Esteghlal match. I am sure the koskhols from Iran will come in with Khomeini, Khameneie and kotlet stuff and that will get cancelled as well
