Come on man. I did not want to get you upset. As I said before, I show my friendship with someone not via damet garm. I also joked with Farzad about going to Kerman. You should have seen the arguments between Bardia & Farzad in Qatar [smile]. But in general you remind me of some of my very dear friends that complain all the time. Quite nice and generous folks. I do ask them the same thing when they complain too much to come up with some positive stuff on daily basis. Once one of them finally came back and said "emrooz shikamam khoob kar kard". It does not have to be nice things about America or Boston. [smile]

Here's a look at the five most-costly states for single workers, based on how much money they'd need each year to get by.

  1. Hawaii: $112,411
  2. Massachusetts: $87,909
  3. California: $80,013
  4. New York: $73,226
  5. Alaska: $71,570

Hawaii ranking first is not surprising, as the cost of living there is typically among the highest in the country. Because Hawaii is an isolated chain of islands, most shipping is done by sea rather than by truck or rail, which increases the cost of consumer goods. Land for real estate is also limited, which has driven up home prices.

Similarly, Massachusetts, California and New York require relatively high living wages, largely due to the fact that Boston, Los Angeles and New York City have some of the highest housing costs in the country.

Looking at the results as a whole, single workers' median income of $57,200 only covers the living wage in 30 states.

Single people may have to make sacrifices to get by

Although the study uses the 50/30/20 budget as a guideline for determining living wage, it isn't always a realistic measure of what people can afford, primarily because of ever-rising housing costs.

That usually means some sort of compromise is needed to make ends meet, whether that's cutting back on retirement contributions or eliminating other costs, like owning a car. In the case of large, expensive cities, getting a roommate is sometimes the only way a single person can cover their expenses.

While couples can usually find some cost savings by splitting mortgage or rent costs, there is no such discount for single people, which is why they typically spend thousands more on housing each year, compared with what married or people pay.

Location also plays a role. Individuals who earn around $57,200 can live comfortably in more rural states in the South and Midwest, where living costs are much lower.

Again, a lot of that has to do with housing costs. Median home prices in the South and Midwest are $311,800 and  $366,600, respectively, much less than the overall U.S. median of $410,200, according to National Association of Realtors data.

Here's a look at the cost of living in each state, in alphabetical order.

I didn’t move to east coast for any issues I had in CA. I was doing well in SD but I prefer east coast, nothing else.
I knew what to expect here. No surprises. It’s been better than I expected but you never Know what will come this winter!

I think at the end the morning after, Porto changed their mind and only way to get out was what they did. Disappointing at Taremi a bit. Not very professional.

Done deal to a statement – full background on the Taremi-Milan talks

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, it ended with a statement and a photo with the president, like all great negotiations. In this case though the president was Pinto da Costa and the statement was from Porto.

“A meeting between Pinto da Costa and Taremi determined the Iranian striker’s stay at Porto and the closing of the deal with Milan,” it read.

The decisive moment came two nights ago, when Milan said no to the new conditions imposed by Porto and Taremi, at a time when the negotiation seemed to be closed.

The Iran international asked for more in salary, he and Porto wanted to include a new agent in the negotiation. A meeting yesterday afternoon at Casa Milan with Daria Bahrami – the agent-intermediary in contact with Taremi – did not unlock things.

The background of the negotiations is an interesting one. Back in June, Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada put Taremi in their sights because they liked his profile and his goal scoring record.

A slow, remote negotiation began and in July Milan remained in doubt for a long time whether to take Taremi or Samuel Chukwueze as the second non-EU player. They chose the latter and Taremi left the scene.

A few days later, the FIGC decided that the British players (therefore Ruben Loftus-Cheek) would not take up a non-EU spot. Then, in mid-August, Milan approached Porto again to try and get the deal done.

On Tuesday 29 August, Milan made a new offer and Porto said they are willing to sell Taremi. A draft agreement was reached for €15m plus bonuses and the agreement with the player seemed safe: a three-year deal worth €1.5m net plus bonuses per season.

At that point, everything got complicated. Porto made it known on Wednesday evening that they wanted to include a new agent in the negotiation while Taremi asked for a higher salary and did not push his club to sell him.

Milan was thus disappointed by the player, who evidently did not care about the Rossoneri like other summer signings as money became the main focus.

The management organised a meeting at Casa Milan with Daria Bahrami, an intermediary in the deal, but it was meeting that brought great pessimism.

Milan made it clear that they do not want to work with the agents chosen by Porto and Taremi, saying no to the new conditions proposed. Then came the statement on Porto’s official channel, and the soap opera ended like that.

Zinsky. It is about whatever makes you happy. I don't think anyone said not to go to Portugal. We all said it is a good move. I myself went twice and seriously considering it. Measure of success is happiness.

Anyways, not sure why but this reminded me of you:

A California couple moves east to get away from the big earthquake (what it is like living in the northeast right now)

Jan 24 5pm. It's starting to snow. The first of the season, and the first snow we've seen in years. The wife and I took our hot buttered rums and sat by the picture window, watching the soft flakes drift down, clinging to the trees and covering the ground. It was beautiful!

Jan. 25 We woke to a lovely blanket of crystal white snow covering the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Every tree and shrub covered with a beautiful white mantle. I shoveled snow for the first time in years, and loved it. I did both our driveway and sidewalk. Later, a snow plow came along and accidentally covered up our driveway with compacted snow from the street. The driver smiled and waved. I waved back and shoveled again.

Jan. 26 It snowed an additional five inches last night and the temperature has dropped to around 11 degrees. Several limbs on the trees and shrubs snapped due to the weight of the snow. I shoveled our driveway again. Shortly afterwards, the snowplow came by and did his trick again. Much of the snow is brownish gray.

Jan. 27 Warmed up enough during the day to create some slush which soon became ice when the temperature dropped again. Bought snow tires for both cars. Fell on my ass in the driveway. $145.00 to the chiropractor, but nothing was broken. More snow and ice expected.

Jan. 28 Still cold. Sold the wife's car and bought a 4x4 in order to get her to work. Slid into a guard rail and did a considerable amount of damage to the right rear quarter panel. Had another 8 inches of the white shit last night. Both vehicles covered in salt and crud. More shoveling in store for me today. That goddam snowplow came by twice today.

Jan. 29 8 degrees outside. More fuckin' snow. Not a tree or shrub on our property that hasn't been damaged. Power was off most of the night. Tried to keep from freezing to death with candies and kerosene heater which tipped over and nearly burned our house down. I managed to put the flames out, but suffered 2nd degree burns on my hands and lost all my eyebrows and eyelashes. Car slid on ice on way to emergency room and was totaled.

Jan. 30 Goddam mother fuckin' white shit keeps on coming down. Have to put on all the clothes we own just to get to the fuckin' mailbox. If I ever catch the son of a bitch that drives the snowplow, I'll chew open his chest and rip out his heart. I think he hides around the corner and waits for me to finish shoveling and then comes down the street at about 100mph and buries our driveway again! Power is still off. Toilet froze and part of the roof has started to cave in.

Jan. 31 6 goddam more fuckin' inches of fuckin' snow and fuckin' ice and god knows what other kind of fuckin' white shit fell last night. I wounded the fuckin' snowplow asshole with my ice ax, but he got away. Wife left me. Car won't start. I think I'm going snow-blind. I can't move my toes. Haven't seen the sun in weeks. More snow predicted. Wind-chill is 22 fuckin' degrees below zero. To hell with it. I'm going back to California!

I might be too simple minded but don’t get this!
“I challenge you every day for a week, to come up what is great about the life you are living in Boston. I know you could do more if you lived in San Diego but I know the weather is nice now and you can come up with one every day for 7 days”!
What does it mean? Why would anyone come up with a reason about where they live? Why do I need to compare Boston to San Diego? Does it always have to be a comparison? Do we need a popular opinion on where is the best place for everyone? Most people live somewhere either by choice or necessity. If there are no choices, that is what it is. If they choose the place, they shouldn’t defend their choice. Not everyone like the same stuff. That should be ok with the rest.

This is typical of us. We start a conversation about places we like to live or retire and before you know it we are fighting over which is better. It’s not a question of better or worse, it’s just what someone wants/likes/prefers.
I have lived in America for nearly 40 years. I spent the 1st 15 years in east coast (DC and Manhattan) then CA and now back to Boston. I always preferred east coast. I know for Iranians in CA that makes no sense and I’m good with that. East coast has a different lifestyle that suits me more. That doesn’t mean it’s better for everyone, just me. My kids came here to study and fell in love with the place and I always preferred being closer to my kids! That is it. No disrespect to West coast or anything like that.
I have no regrets about coming and living in America. I went to school, got a degree, married, had kids and built a life here. I do think it’s going the wrong way in many aspects but that is just my personal opinion. I really don’t think my 20 year old self could survive coming here today and do what I did 40 years ago as an immigrant with zero support. Some can for sure.
People are just too attached to where they live. They feel they need to pump it up and make sure everyone knows it’s the best place to be. Be it the country, the city or the neighborhood. I have traveled more than my share. I know what I like. At different stages of life different places/people become more desirable.

Basically Porto lowered their asking price so we could close for 15m but then they bringed in agents that are close to them, their modus operandi is they take a comission and then share It with porto. At the end we had to pay Mendes, taremi's agent and that phino guy Who Is connected to porto( in this way the would have at least partially earned back the 30 milions they originally asked)

Porto fan:
I'm sorry for the behavior of our board. We're all against this way of doing business.

"And then share it with Porto"... I wish they would, the problem is that our board and these agents are very close and work together to steal money from the club.

Taremi would have been a very much needed sale for us, and a pretty decent signing for you

Thank you guys (Italian press and fans) for unveiling this "mafia"

We believe that this was a show put up by our board so they could say "it's not our fault that the player left on a free, we accepted the deal" which is enough to convince the fans (there is an election in 2024). And then send one of these agents to keep Taremi in so our manager doesn't get furious.

As I said in the other comment, someone really just didn't want the deal to go through. Because when there is intention from both sides, agreement can always be found.
