Comments: Forget the sanctions not being effective. Your insistence on lifting the sanctions knowing that time and time they proved that none of that goes to ordinary poor people is mind bugging. Your insistence on lifting the sanctions knowing that almost all of it or lets say majority of it is going to these gharatgars and dozd is still very questionable. Even your 20% people and 80% gharatgars idea is sick. Why do you insist on these dozds taking in more? I just don't get it.
Comments: I look at within my own circle of acquaintances and distant relatives I basically see 3 groups that are still holding on to supporting the regime and status quo: 1. Group that are raking it in via corrupt business practices like fixing government bids and manipulating the market and sharing the money with the officials 2. Families that have been given shahid to this in Iraq war and financially or generally benefiting like their kids getting into Universities 3. People that are religious for example still forcing their daughters & wives wear hijab, still go to Friday prayers etc
Comments: Zinsky: Pretty much the same with me, however I have one small goal that as you challenge us on the 25% that we do not agree on to become more passionate on the 75% that we agree on and challenge people on those that disagree with us or want to brush over
Comments: A point I want to make clear is that I do engage in this discussion knowing full well that it means nothing. It will not change anything. Even if I convince all of you (5-10 posters), which I know I won’t, it makes zero difference to the system here or in Iran. I’m smart enough to know I don’t know enough nor do I have any influence to make a dent. If I’m asked to discuss my views in a larger, more influential setting, I would refuse. There are many, many experts out there with years of experience in foreign policy and political science. I’m not even close. I get engage here for fun of talking and learning. I know it means nothing at the end. It’s just bunch of old friends who talk football and politics to kill some time and possibly get under each other’s skin.
Comments: What a nice technical goal by Dani Olmo of Leipzic against BM
Comments: Zinsky. I think the ultimate thing you are looking for is through some military actions. And Biden / Neocons are primed for it. Hopefully they limit the bombardment to those strategic installations.
Comments: Farzad:
I think last time they said drug sanctions relief are good but no body wants to do business with us because they don't trust our banking system
Comments: Has it done anything positive/corrective so far. . No because Biden did not stick to sanctions the way Obama did. Actually He threw money at them. Now did it help people? No. . So there is your answer
Comments: The 10B from Iraq and the 6B from Korea is designated for food and medicine. Let's see how IRI use it to bring the cost of food and medicine down and relieve the people. It's good test for them and you actually. If they do use it for that purpose, then you prove your point that The sanctions relief will go towards betterment of the people. And I will then tell you, Farzin, you were right on.
Comments: Yes Farzad, if a deal is imminent, they won't risk of injury
Comments: I did read it. “intent is to have a corrective action”! Has it done anything positive/corrective so far. Is IRI any less brutal to its people? Has it moved them towards democracy or something close to it. If it is working (sanctions) as desired/designed, then I’m sorry for taking everyone’s time. Maybe I don’t see it. I will watch more YouTube videos and learn. Once again, I would love to see any positive results from the sanctions. Anything I can point to and say, “here you go, the country and its citizens are doing better with respect to ……..”! I can’t fill that blank with anything. 40+ years of sanctions and there is nothing to show for. But why change course? It’s working for someone just not the ones we were hoping for.
Comments: Shahin. So what if Taremi plays on Monday. Will that mean he will not be transferred? Or they don't let him play so he does not get injured in the middle of a transfer?
Comments: Per UN guidelines unfortunately if a regime does not take corrective action then Article 42 kicks in. And UN protocols allow that. No, sanction relief does not do anything for poor people (at 70% now). Barjam or other reliefs by Biden as you witnessed did not do anything for struggling people. The other point you fail to catch is that this land is being ruled by Gharatgars and criminals. Once you pass and accept that then I think you will come to terms with the situation. You still have your doubts about this regime and you still think there is some legitimacy associated with these criminals. I gave this example before. It is like a relative who is the head of a household, is an abusive drunk and drug addict who wastes his money on fixes, and is now begging for money. You , as a relative, will you give him any money hoping that instead he will bring bread to the households table? Anyways. EslAh talabs used to think this way but people came back with "EslAh talab, doodool talA, digeh tamoomeh mAjerA".
Comments: Harry Kane is already on the bench for BM in Super Cup. They expect him to play some minutes
Comments: Problem is you don't read my post. I tried to keep it short. But here again "Sanctions are there for weakening and intent is to have a corrective action. It was not designated to overthrow the regime."
