I don't know where the word "flashback" came from. I meant lash back.

Zinsky, I don't think that we're all America admirers here just like not everyone is a IRI admirers in the other page. I criticize the US all the time here. I've called them bullies of the world, etc... I've called their selections a shit show, and their relentless foreign policy is why I refuse to participate in it. The guys over here have never expressed any flashbacks to my comments.
But I do believe it's 500% better than our homeland to live in.

sanction is not just a USA tool. it is a UN tool as well. It is the tool before a full blow war. It is UN chapter 7, Article 41 vs 42. If 41 is inadequate then article 42 kicks in. (Should the Security Council consider that measures provided for in Article 41 would be inadequate or have proved to be inadequate, it may take such action by air, sea, or land forces as may be necessary to maintain or restore international peace and security.)

none of us want article 42 to kick in.

Sanctions is hurting IRI. Hurtingthem big time.  Why do you think now they have to beg for their own money in order to free the hostages.  It used to be Ransom.  South Korea owed them 7 billions now it is 6 billions..

without many of these sanctions, there were others who were making shit load of money, they want sanctions lifted so that they can gharat more. So that Shahmkhani's son with all of his tankers can sell the free oil he filled his tankers with at current Market price. He will make more money and gharat at higher value with sanctions lifted.  Under the sanctions yes his tankers are out there in Oman sea or indian ocean with the workers screaming "Naftieh Naft, bia bardaro bebar, harrajejh... naft darim naft) or have a sign on that tanker that says (40% off).

These gharatgars have no limit, they don't even lknow what dozdi means. They are competing now as who gets to a Trillion dollar wealth first.

still in a meeting... but quickly....

About America First. Yes I do like to see America to be the old America of Land of Dreams and Opportunities. That is why most of us decided to come here versus Germany France or other places.

I like to see USA to be the ultimate power. Yes we may theoreticallly say why we need super power, in theory I agree we should not. But let's get real there exisits at least 3 of them and my choice is to chose USA simply because the others have no mercy on their own people.

Lastly, I lived here in this country 3/4 of my life so far. There is a bond associated between me and this country. Yes I root for USA when they are playing football or any other sports (except against Iran). It is genuine. I blended in this society.  Go and hear what Firooz Naderi said about how he felt about this country. Go ask Omid Kordestani, Anousheh Ansari, and... how they feel about USA. They are not vatanforoosh, they are not traiters.  I pay my bills I have good credit, I do not try to fuck the saystem by not paying credit card bill, and....

Yes I love my birthplace too, i go there on every opprtunity i find. But at passport check or leaving the country, I don't almost shit in my pants when I am entering or leaving the US. In Iran you never know. look at all these innocent dual citizens captured and their normal life paused for many years.

My 1000 toman on the subject.

Let's look at this in a different way. Take away the emotional attachment to it or the fact that anything that might hurt IRI is good and anything that might help them is bad (which I can't argue anyway).

Let's say your company come to you as someone at an executive management position in a fortune 100 company and present you a project. Since I know your company is involved in drugs and medicine, I will make an example that makes sense. They say the company has been working on a drug to cure cancer for over 40 years. They have adjusted the dose/formulas and tested it on 50,000 patients. They present you the results that shows the cancer didn't go away. There were times it got weaker but again times that it got stronger. In the meantime, patients tested have shown sign of weakness, pain and suffering.

What would be your executive recommendation? Continue testing it on more patents, adjust the formula/dose and let see what happens in another 40 years? Would you question the overall project objectives? Would you put some sort of a deadline to finalize the testing for the approval? Would you kill the drug and recommend a different approach?

My uncle tried almost the same thing like your PhD relative after couple of years was forced out by someone like your relative with high school diploma connected to Sepah. This was a while back not sure how much sanction was there but not sure if that mattered

I don't know for sure if it helps people. I can't predict the future. I know it has been hurting the people for a long time. It has also given the system a perfect excuse to blame everything on sanctions. I know we need to stick with our beliefs and anything else is considered admitting you were not perfect but what I can see is that sanctions have not done what we were hoping they do. IRI has been under one form of sanctions or another for 40+ years. They are still around destroying the country. They have become richer and richer while the average person has gotten poorer and more desperate.

I give you two examples. They might not satisfy your thinking and that is perfectly fine.

I have two family members. One is connected with the system and the other is an average citizen.

The 1st one has a high school diploma and used to fix electronics in the back of someone's shop. He got connected with a bache Mollah and somehow got a contract to work on the Airport's electric system. Fast forward to today, he lives like a king. When I talked to him last time I was back home, he said, without sanctions, and with possible equipment shipped directly from overseas (Euro or USA) legally, he couldn't smuggle them in, and sell them to other contractors for 500+% profit.

The 2nd one is a PHD who works for a company, teaches classes in university and does odd jobs here and there to be able to buy a 50-meter apartment. He does understand the role the government plays in economy and how they are fully miss manage the money they have but still tells me that during few months that the nuclear deal was announced and implemented, he felt hope. He was given an assignment with decent amount of money by a European company to set up an office in Tehran and start hiring some staff. He actually rented an office space and hired 3 of his graduate students to set up the computers and the rest. It all dies after the deal fell apart.

Can I predict how it would have gone if the deal would have not been killed? I can't. I only know what it was for a short time for this guy.

Zinsky, when I debate with Shahin about Biden or his foreign policy, I am criticizing a policy of America. I do not get labeled "Amrika Setiz" or anything like that. There is a reason for it.

Because  it is about the Western values and standards we are thankful for. My son for example born here sees himself as a pure American, as American as any other American citizen.

Maybe our attitude about is America is different because most of us came abroad at teenage age. But yes at least to my eyes this is the greatest country, I am so thankful for all the opportunities this country provided for me, my family, and my children.

As someone at an executive management position in a fortume 100 company, my company does not see me as a stranger, I have white Americans reporting to me with some calling using terms like "Yes Sir" and I have to tell them dont call me that... On top of America, I also find California the Final Frontier. Yes it is expensive, but still ideal place to live. I cannot even live in any other state as I am so used to it.

I travel a lot. Spent lots of times in European countries specially Scandinivia. In terms of social justice, even social medicine I find California ahead of them. Yes free education is lagging here but then we are not paying 55% tax or anything.

In terms of recism, I see more of it in europe than even in Louisville, Ky where I grew up and went to high school to.

It is a great country, and I cannot be more thankful for all the opportunities it provided for me. USA was a platform of success for me, but it was all up to me. I blended very well with this society. And my children cherish that.

Zinsk, this is a serious question. Based on even what you said, why do you think lifting sanctions will help poor people in Iran?

Once again, the question is not if they are stealing the money. That is proven beyond a shadow of doubt.

I was expecting the other admin to jump in and defend America first. What he said was not to put down America. I didn't post it to put down America. Unfortunately, any comment about America other than it's the best country in the world is taken as an insult to America, particularity in this group. There are GREAT things about America. There are also stuff that are not. It is perfectly fine to talk about both. I, personally, want America to improve and get even better than it is for my kids and possible grandkids. The only way that would happen is to see the country as is. All the good and all the not so good. Keep the good and improve the rest.

Sagan was a MAGA? Kidding aside, these super smart guys are idealists and people listen to them. Good for him warning the world. Almost 30 years later, America is still here and we are still living in it. World also has changed and technology has changed. If you have access to broadband, you can do a lot
