Comments: PERSPLOIS in Tabriz playing in front of 70k spectators. There will be problems for sure.
Comments: I will answer your question even though you didn't answer my 3-part question. "Beit e Rahbari in charge also does not want foreign investment or normal relations with West." An agreement was made. All parties including IRI were complying with it. No one liked it but it was going forward, regardless. Please correct me if I am wrong. America, and America alone, decided to kill the deal. They basically told everyone including EU, Russi and China to kill it or else. It died of course. Why would any country want to deal or sign a new agreement knowing it could be killed by one side without asking anyone else? No one else has a vote!
Comments: The US is begging Iran to stop selling drones to Russia. I guess sanctions are working ![]() https://www.yahoo.com/news/us-asks-iran-stop-selling-050321867.html

Comments: “Sanctions worked for Obama. Brought IRI to the table.” And? According to many, IRI got a sweetheart deal outsmarting/out negotiating the rest of the world! They got tons of money and nothing tangible in return! It might have (MIGHT HAVE) done something positive for the people but we won’t know since it died rather quickly. That is my problem. Please answer my 3 questions. It should be easy.

Comments: Sanctions worked for Obama. Brought IRI to the table. Sanctions are not there to topple the regime. For that you need coup or other military actions.
Comments: I had Japan and England in the final. Got 1/2 of it right!!! I think Spain is a better team than England but won’t bet on either one after watching few games. It is a toss up for me.
Comments: kAmkAr, Exactly. Sanctions are not sure thing. There must be a deadline & some sort of evaluation to determine if it is doing anything (working). It is obvious that USA and IRI are playing a game that keeps IRI alive and citizens in pain. Every time IRI runs really low on funds, America releases some of the frozen funds.
Comments: I wanted Australia to move on to the final game. I hope the Japs can kick the ugly British butt on Sunday.
Comments: Zinsky, I thought that subject was put to rest. To put my two cents in a nutshell, sanctions are a matter of hit and miss. It worked in South Africa and it didn't work in Cuba. Then again you gotta define what we mean by "worked". It didn't topple the communists in Cuba but look at the dire conditions they live in. The sanctions has had an impact on the lives of average José in Cuba for worse. But it had an impact on South Africa for better. It all depends on the political, economical, and cultural make up of each country. One main reason Iran's Molas have survived the sanctions is the ridiculous amount of money they produce from the oil sale. |
