Comments: Per UN guidelines unfortunately if a regime does not take corrective action then Article 42 kicks in. And UN protocols allow that. No, sanction relief does not do anything for poor people (at 70% now). Barjam or other reliefs by Biden as you witnessed did not do anything for struggling people. The other point you fail to catch is that this land is being ruled by Gharatgars and criminals. Once you pass and accept that then I think you will come to terms with the situation. You still have your doubts about this regime and you still think there is some legitimacy associated with these criminals. I gave this example before. It is like a relative who is the head of a household, is an abusive drunk and drug addict who wastes his money on fixes, and is now begging for money. You , as a relative, will you give him any money hoping that instead he will bring bread to the households table? Anyways. EslAh talabs used to think this way but people came back with "EslAh talab, doodool talA, digeh tamoomeh mAjerA".
Comments: Harry Kane is already on the bench for BM in Super Cup. They expect him to play some minutes
Comments: Problem is you don't read my post. I tried to keep it short. But here again "Sanctions are there for weakening and intent is to have a corrective action. It was not designated to overthrow the regime."
Comments: I do have prop in Iran but have no intention of selling & bringing the money overseas. It’s my home away from home. My hope is to spend more time back home. What I gathered from your posts and the ones from few years ago is the same. I give you points for consistently. Continue with the sanctions. Hope it will eventually change the regime and even possibly get rid of it. On changing the regime, it hasn’t done much. They did come to the negotiating table but what was the benefit. They received some money, slowed the nuclear program and very quickly brought it back. No charges in their behavior. They found ways to make the money from oil and gas. It’s at 40% or some discount but they don’t care. You don’t think lifting sanctions would do anything beneficial to the country and its citizens. I don’t think keeping it will do anything either. Is there a 3rd option other than war? I don’t see any options for the short term. So, we continue with status quo and wait. In the meantime, let’s complain and argue. That would teach them.

Comments: How much is the $ now?
Comments: Zinsky wrote: "I was hoping that a more open IRI with European and American companies slowly but surely finding their way in would lead to IRI losing control. It might have been a pipe dream but a good dream!" Basically what eslah talabs are saying. Pipe dream if you are naive, optimistic if you have businesses and property that you can liquidate and bring the money out with a decent exchange rate

Comments: But the big question is for you. When you have a group of dozd and gharatgars occupying Iran. They kill kids, they torture youngsters, they blinded so many protesters, they force hijab on women, they embezzle the country, they ruined our water resource, they ruined lakes like uramieh while stealing billions and billions of dollars. They let the brains of the country to flee. When they demonstrate that they are the true enemy of Iran and Iranian people and their intent is to fill their own pocket, why do you want to throw money at these thieves. You know the poor people will not be able to see one rial of it why are you so adamant about lifting the sanctions. Why do you want to give these murderers and Gharatgars a life line? If you come out and say it straight that you have properties there and with this sanction your investment is going down to toilet you have a legit reason. But just look at the pig picture. Dollar has to be 6 digit toman. The value of dollar in iran is bogus. These same dozds and gharatgars setting the value of the dollar. There is no financial reasoning for dollar value being what it is. Remember a property in Tehran (same sq ft) cannot be the same price as the same property with same sq ft in Santa Monica. It just does not make sense and there is something bogus and wrong with the picture.
Comments: Of course you pursue other options. But sanctions are not clinical study project. Sanctions are there for weakening and intent is to have a corrective action. It was not designated to overthrow the regime. It was Obama's crippling sanction that brought IRI to negotiating table. It is effective if the intent is right and if it is enforced and you do not deviate from it. Again the important thing is to stick to the elements of study. You can't change course in the middle or deviate from it without finishing the study to see its effectiveness on the outcome or the endpoint. There are so many variables in the study. You also evaluate the impact of those variables. In your sanction example, Obama was sticking to his principles. He did not deviate from it. He continued those severe sanctions until IRI accepted to come to negotiating table. As soon as IRI agreed to come to the table he loosened some of the tightness. The negotiation continued until Barjam. So it was effective. On Trump's maximum pressure the intent was the same. It was working. It was crippling IRI. Had it continued it would have had the same impact. But IRI took a huge risk. They waited for Biden. They banked on Biden. Biden did not continue the same principles as Obama and Trump. They way they were sticking to sanctions. Biden on the paper kept the sanctions but in practice he loosened it up. He let iran sell its oil and he looked the other way. But then he found out he cannot do that with these thugs. His study failed because he did not follow the protocol. And now here we are. He found the hard way that you cannot give these mother fuckers concessions. He did the right thing by having boots on the oil tankers, increasing US forces in Persian gulf. And lastly deploying 3000 troops to Red Sea. And that is how IRI got the message, almost shitting in their pants and we see days after deployment of the 3000 soldiers we hear they are freeing the hostages. And receiving 6 billion of the 7B Korea owed them. Minus 1 B transaction fee. If things continue then Biden will have no choice but military action. And trust me he has the appetite for it.
