Comments: I am a bit disappointed at Bernie. If you recall I voted Bernie, when the race was between Hillary and Trump. Even though leading Hillary, he quit and endorsed her under heavy pressure by Obama. He kind of did it again in 2020, was doing well, but quit and endorsed Biden. In 2024, He is endorsing Biden, even though he 100% disagrees with Biden's Israeli policy. The root of the Israel - Hamas conflict is not Israel. So, when I hear people like Bernie and focus on what they always say, I can conclude that they just always "say' to attract voters, but behind the scene and in reality once the have the right number of votes for the party they give their "ok" nod and business as usual. I did get burned by Bernie. Twice. It was just a show. This Tulsi Gabbard, Bernie's designated Vice president in 2016 run. She left the democratic party. Bernie still loyal to the party even as an independent.

Comments: College years for many are years education. Experiencing and participating in social movements is part of that education. I go by don’t let the school be on the way of your education! The example that you relayed shahin, is typical of what nerds and finance people share. I have also heard from those that attributed some of their growth by being part of anti war movements, early 80s intervention in Central America, Us Iraq wars,…. Anti Vietnam war movement got mix with the hippie movement which was a rebellion to the values of 50s. Anti war student movements have a long history in this country due to US being engaged in so many wars. Many social freedoms that different sectors enjoys, civil rights movements, voting rights for women, fairer labor laws, were result of various struggles that can find their roots in what started in early 20th century, initially starting as students protesting US participation to the First World War, later joined by labor groups. Your doctor friend may not see much coming out of his protest, but can he claim that the movement didn’t affect any social/ political or even economic changes?

These students are following your lead. He said we protested about everything, from food in the cafeteria to university in taking over a piece of land to make a park where we smoked weed. He said the war would have ended eventually and not sure how the protests influenced it. Now that he thinks about it, he does not feel any emotional attachment to the North Vietnamese people being killed or the US young folks being sent to die, just that he was rebelling against the establishment. At the end majority of the serious students would not risk expulsion or even a delay in graduation. They did not want to jeopardize their future lucrative medical career

Comments: بنابر گزارش‌ها، صدیق وسمقی، اسلام‌پژوه و مخالف حجاب اجباری که اسفندماه گذشته بازداشت شده بود، از زندان اوین آزاد شده است. این خبر را عصر دوشنبه - ۱۰ اردیبهشت - پایگاه خبری امتداد گزارش کرد و نوشت علت آزادی خانم وسمقی وخامت مشکلات بینایی او بوده است. این دین پژوه ایرانی ۲۶ اسفند گذشته در خانه خود در تهران بازداشت شد. بازداشت او پس از آن بود که در اعتراض به فشارهای حکومت در مورد حجاب اجباری، اجبار به حجاب را خلاف تعالیم اسلام خواند، حجابش را برداشت و بدون روسری در فضاهای عمومی ظاهر شد. او چند روز پیش از بازداشت گفته بود احضار شده اما به دلیل «مشخص نبودن اتهامات» به دادسرا نخواهد رفت. خانم وسمقی بعد از بازداشت هم اعلام کرد که دادگاه انقلاب را قانونی نمی‌داند و حکم آن را نخواهد پذیرفت، و به همین دلیل تاکید کرد که «با هر گونه کفالت و وثیقه‌گذاری» مخالف است. این پژوهشگر دینی در فرودین ۱۴۰۲ در نامه‌ای به علی خامنه‌ای، رهبر جمهوری اسلامی از او خواست توضیح دهد در حالی که در قرآن «بر لزوم پوشاندن موی سر برای زنان تصریح نشده، الگوی سخت‌گیرانه جمهوری اسلامی برای پوشش زنان بر کدام دلایل قطعی و خدشه‌ناپذیر دینی و با کدام استدلال استوار شده است.» او که خود سابقه تحصیلات حوزوی و دکترای فقه و مبانی حقوق اسلامی دارد، در آن نامه نوشت: «موضوع پوشش زنان در سنت پیامبر به گونه‌ای که امروز مطرح می‌شود هرگز مطرح نبوده و شواهدی در دست نیست که نشان دهد در زمان پیامبر اسلام و پس از او زنان به دلیل نپوشاندن موی سر و یا حتی بدن خود مورد آزار و اذیت و مجازات قرار گرفته باشند.» صدیقه وسمقی که سال‌ها در مقالات و مصاحبه‌های خود با وادار کردن زنان به داشتن حجاب مخالفت کرده بود، در مهر ماه سال ۱۴۰۲ در پیامی ویدیویی که بعد از به کما رفتن آرمیتا گراوند منتشر کرد، حجاب از سر برداشت. این پژوهشگر و اسلام‌شناس در آن پیام عملکرد حکومت جمهوری اسلامی در آزار و اذیت زنان را «جنون‌آمیز» خواند و خواهان لغو رسمی قانون «شرور، پرهزینه و پرمفسده حجاب اجباری» شد.

Comments: Free expression and protests are legitimate and essential components of a democratic system. While there are very legitimate student concerns, but agitators including IRI proxies, right wingers and even Israeli extremists are derailing these movements. Once you hear pro Hamas chants or antisemitic chants ( real antisemetic- not as defined by Netanyahu or US right wingers) you know that is derailed. On the other hand atrocity propoganda of some the media is spreading misinformation on the protests, particularly at Yale. There is almost no mention of peace coalition, made of both Jewish and progressive student bodies. Students can be very gullible to the extremism. Is rather easy to alter the character of their protests. And you have three masters of shrewdery and manipulation working side by side to tilt the movement into their direction. Yesterday an Israeli was caught chanting kill all the Jews in one of the east coast campuses. IRI agents were caught on the video teaching “ leaders” their slogans……
