Comments: And the Gaza war... , It is just the strangest thing. On the surface it is as simple as Palestine - Israel conflict but this one has a complicated depth to it. ▫️ The first reaction by anyone I know on October 7th was, "Israel is going to level Gaza". Knowing the background of this conflict it was a no brainer for many to conclude that. But as we actually witnessed this leveling act in action our emotions kicked in and finds it unacceptable. No one in a right mind can accept this, there are lack of humanitarian elements out there that is simply not acceptable. Like food or medicine. But then again the question becomes how come no one (high power) is doing anything. ▫️ It is so strange that no country has sanctioned Israel. Including China Russia and Iran. Iran sanctioned US for the support of Israel but not Israel itself. ▫️ Turkey today stopped trades with Israel until the Israeli Government allows sufficient flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza. ▫️ There is no power out there to stop what is happening. And it comes across as if this thing is doomed to happen in front of everyone's eyes. This is beyond just a conflict between Israel and Palestine. Like there is no Lithium found in Gaza right? I did found out that British Gas discovered natural gas in the Gaza Marine fields 20 miles off the coast of Gaza, with an estimated 1 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.
Comments: I believe students should be allowed to protest, I don't care if they are Bibi lovers all the way to Hamas sympathizers. They can even chant death to America death to Israel all the way death to Palestine. That is their First Amendment rights in this country. There is no ifs or buts about it. As long as they do not intentionally infringe the rights of others or establishment. It is as simple as this. Then you have the Public Schools vs Private Schools which have certain jurisdictions of their own. "The right to protest is protected by the freedom of speech and peaceful assembly clauses of the First Amendment. This means that citizens have the right to express their opinions and beliefs through peaceful protests, demonstrations, and assemblies, as long as they do not infringe on the rights of others or violate reasonable time, place, and manner restrictions."
Comments: This conflict in Gaza has really brings to the surface the challenge American politics is facing. If you are a leftist jerk who always hated America even if it allowed you to build a great lifestyle here then it is a no brainer, USA sucks. But the majority who are apolitical are decent people who do not want anybody killed or even their rights violated but at the same time want to go to school, graduate, make a living and build a life for themselves without violating anybody else's human rights. How does the government guarantee all that in addition to make its people prosper?
Comments: We all know that most of these college administrators are bleeding liberals but they look at all this as "business is business". They will be out of a job if they don't run a smooth operation as most of the college students just want to finish school and get a job. So they ask authorities to clean this stuff up but it is ultimately up to the local PD's. This is as hard as trying to make sense of the original conflict
Comments: Cyruss: There is no excuse for violence like that. LAPD needs to be accountable. If you can't protest peacefully in US then all hopes lost
Comments: Yes until further notice anything bad happening in the world is Iran or Iranians fault. Even your hernia
Comments: History of Columbia university Occupation. And now Gaza protest.

Comments: lol, no I don’t think so. Apparently started as an electrical fire in a bakery. I had seen pictures of this village before. Simple wooden buildings all in different contrasting colors. A departure from the typical mono scheme colors of most villages. All in ruins now, but fortunately as far as I know, no casualties.
Comments: Cyruss, hopefully not related to anything like "Abraham accord". The reason I say this because, There is a neighborhood in Rasht called "Pol e ArAgh" or "Iraq Bridge". There is a saying that after iraq attacked Iran, in retaliation: "رشتی ها پل عراق را با خاک یکسان کردن. "
Comments: In an unrelated sad news from Iran, the colorful beautiful امام زاده إبراهيم in Gilan and close to Rasht was burned in fire. All the beautiful colorful wooden structures are gone now

Shahin, my son attends UCLA According to him , it was combination of both , mostly Jewish Iranians. In some sites , video clips of the savage attack contained some Farsi spoken amongst attackers. A little skirmish I can see, but these guys had come organized with fire bombs and pepper spray. And it looked like they had the blessing of campus police as they were standing idle and doing nothing. LAPD showed up 4 hours after the attack started, and by then the organized mob had vanished, so they did the best thing they could do, arrest the students that ere harmed ! It was vicious with American standards and at par with IRI practice. Even Jewish organizations are condemning it.
