Comments: I saw Hamed in person at Stanford's Abbas Milani's program with good 600-700 people in attendance and people were almost begging him to become the leader of the movement. It was clear to me that he was struggling internally about whether he wants to be a leader for the movement. I think he eventually decided that he is not comfortable with this. He is a liberal Canadian-American with liberal global view (I am one too but not Canadian). A leader of a movement to topple the akhounds cannot be a bleeding liberal, just too much to tip toe around balancing regime change and his liberal ideals
