(Photo by Marco Luzzani/Getty Images) Inter Milan are concerned as striker Mehdi Taremi is unable to travel to the USA for the Club World Cup amid Israel-Iran airstrikes. This according to the Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the 32-year-old is currently grounded in Tehran. Inter Milan striker Mehdi Taremi is currently in Iran. He travelled to his home country to accept an award as Iran’s footballer of the year. The plan had been for Taremi to fly straight from Tehran to Los Angeles. There, he would link up with the rest of the Inter squad ahead of the Club World Cup. Inter play their opening match in that tournament next week, against Mexican team Monterrey. Inter Concerned As Mehdi Taremi Unable To Travel From Iran However, other events have transpired which have made it difficult for Taremi to leave his home country. Between Thursday and yesterday, Israel sent several waves of airstrikes to a number of targets in Iran. Then, yesterday, Iran began their retaliation, with several waves of airstrikes of their own hitting a number of targets within Israel. Naturally, the result of this has been the closure of all civilian airspace in the region. Accordingly, the scheduled flight of Inter striker Mehdi Taremi was unable to take off. Accordingly, the Nerazzurri are concerned about the situation with the 32-year-old striker. It is unclear when Taremi will be able to travel to be with his teammates for the Club World Cup. Comments: Israel's next target is Fordo, a nuclear site hidden in a mountain. |
Iran’s UN ambassador said that 78 people were killed and 320 were wounded in Israel’s airstrikes on Iran.
The death toll comes after Israel’s attacks across Iran which hit dozens of targets in and around Tehran including nuclear facilities and official headquarters.
Among those killed by Israeli airstrikes include scientists and commanders.
As reported by the Guardian’s Jason Burke and Deepa Parent, Iranians described chaotic scenes where they saw windows shaking and people screaming.
“Traffic jams and clueless crowds are still trying to make sense of what’s happening,” witnesses told the Guardian, adding: “Smoke is still billowing from residential streets and there’s debris around homes. The sky is red and we fear there will be more attacks.”
