Comments: Totally agree with Shahin and Cyrus. Yes, Cyrus connection @ USSF is righ on the money! Because he and his colleagues are wise enough to remember what happenned when both Azzizi & khakpour** when they were playing at two top MLS teams in early 2000. It may be prudent to bet on the Iranian audience for a few exhibitions or playoff games; but not as a consistent ticket-buying audience like mexican and/or south american fan base here in the states. ** back in early 2000, SJ Earthquake & NY Metro were playing an early season match at the Spartan Stadium in SJ. The stadium was full of the iranians that we used to play together regularly on the weekends- all 25-30 of us!!!

Comments: I talked to a friend that is involved with USSF on business aspect. Told him about Taremi and speculations of him joining Galaxy. He said it doesn’t make sense business wise. He estimated if any , his added marketing value would be maxed at 2-300 k max annually. For that value , Galaxy can get a decent level South American at a fraction of the price and invest and bet on their future. Argentina offers a good situation for MLS due to the economical situation. The case with the kid in Atlanta United is impacting trends at MLS.
Comments: Taremi will make a lot of money in Europe next year since there is no transfer money involved. MLS can’t compete. I think the writer was thinking out of the box
Comments: If this Taremi LA deal goes through, I feel that he will be harassed by many anti regime and pro monarchy people. During Azizi time the situation had not heated up like now. Taremi will think twice before putting his signature on the transfer paper.
Comments: Cyruss: Yes 500 may be too many. I think Azizi is San Jose at the time was a much more popular draw than Taremi and it was a handful that went for him. Also getting people to the stadium requires some marketing and local events and appearances that it will not happen because of the regime
Comments: Farzad چاى دبش Is a > 3 billion dollars question. Half the money that was going to be released to IRI A substantial sum that could have helped restoration of Lake Urumia Enough to build several first class stadiums Enough to elevate at least few hundred thousand Iranians from poverty line
Comments: I agree with Shahin, although thinking 500 maybe too high of a number. To begin with, Iranian community in California, is not a paying sports community . They may pay for concerts, but if you can get the games for almost free, why pay? Who would regularly want to spend their Saturdays and mid week evenings in Dominguez , a block from Compton, to watch Taremi? Also, Taremi’s popularity amongst Iranians, specially LA based, is grossly exaggerated.. in the best case scenario, marketers should hope that he is not a hated player. He has gotten bad publicity in his timid way of supporting IRI and rahbar. Good player, but probably can sell maximum 70-80 season tix
Comments: Farzad: I see perhaps 500 hardcore football fans in LA to go see Taremi regularly. It’s like myself who got the extra Portuguese package to watch Taremi on TV but very soon will cancel. I think Galaxy should do it if it makes football sense not because of marketing
