Saeed. I am in Athens now and was having dinner with a CFO of a bank here. Although he said Trump has its own extreme approach about things, the tariffs will work for America. His only suggestion was that Trump should be nicer. 😀

He talked about the US economy and how if US does not act how it can fall behind. He said he could not believe the Democratic Party came up with a candidate who cannot put a sentence together and basically said that financial wolves would have eaten her live.

Once again myself, an anti war, anti Neocon, liberal thinker, and fiscally conservative, and still a registered Democrat am so disappointed that Dem party could not find a qualified candidate.

Ian Dunt, a columnist for the British publication iNews, found himself shocked and aghast at the economic self-destruction that President Donald Trump is leveling on his own economy.

In his latest piece, Dunt remarked of Trump's big tariff announcement this week that "this is what empires look like when they fall" and then went on to describe damage being done by the president.

"This might be the single stupidest thing any of us will ever see," Dunt argued. "It is stupid in every way: presentationally, intellectually, politically, methodologically, morally and of course economically. The word stupid doesn’t really suffice for the full level of idiocy we’ve now reached."

Trump has been ridiculed as a "f-ing" idiot after introducing trade tariffs on every country on Wednesday (April 2), with varying degrees of impact. It comes as the President has even put tariffs on a place that has no humans and only penguins.

During a speech in front of the White House, Trump emphasized his dedication to "make America wealthy again", referring to the move as a "declaration of economic independence" and dubbing it "Liberation Day". He displayed a cardboard graphic detailing the reciprocal tariffs imposed on each country, with "major offenders" like China and the European Union receiving 34% and 20% tariffs, respectively. Rand Paul predicts Trump's tariffs will lead to 'political decimation' and says Republicans will lose both the House and Senate.

Saeed. I love this country. Lived 48 years of my life her. I don't see myself like Quds people see themselves as second class citizen here. 15 million more people voted for him than in 2016. Why? Because they could not accept where this country was going. Trump is my president as Biden was. We have to respect the decision of the majority voters . That is what democracy is. As much as I was against the previous administration, Biden was still my president. Just like the worst of all GWB was. What changes things is the voting booths. You have to have the right alternative so that a Trump from outside of establishment does not come to play.  
 
I have shit load of respect for you. Because as you said you don't have the kalleh ghormeh sabzi mentality.😀 You believe in what you believe. You don't just post ghormeh sabzi stuff and cartoons and joke and shit like others. I can easily sit down and debate with you. I cannot debate with cartoons. And my debate is not about I am wrong and you are right. It is about how I see things changing and folding and how you see it. I am not here to change your views I can't. No one has the strength to change you except yourself. All I can tell you is, what I see and why I see it that way. We all should be able to express how we see things without getting offended.
 
For now. It is what it is. I see it more like a world event like post WWII or post Soviet fall.

Farzad: I can not understand your stand on Trump.  He is going to be nothing but disaster for America.  As many wall street pundit would say "everything was in order before him", and I mean every thing.  Even inflation inherited from covid was heading down in a big way.  Trump is now being called everything and gets worse as soon as he open his mouth. "Parade of incompetence" is the last one.  You must know the importance of wall street on current and future affair of USA.  Loss in wall street is not only about retirees, but also capital which is used to finance start ups. Forget about deficit, nobody with a right mind can think US can repay or save that much ($40 T).  it must be done by growing the economy.  Yet, this admin is not in order to go in that direction.

I dont think there is an Iraqi like invasion or liberation in plans. Just destruction of weaponry nuclear development facilities. Trump is not into regime change and will negotiate as he needs to cut spending and prosper USA and Americans. That is all these cost cutting, Tariffs and external investments are all about. Starting a war is totally against his philosophy.

Engaging in a war like against Iraq is not even possible in iran. Iraq was way too flat and easy invasion. You got Zagros and the sacred Alborz to deal with.

One of my closest bodies, now living in northern CA sent me a picture he took with Gheleich and Hassan Habibi about a yar ago.  First Gheleich was so fragile and old, even almost 2 years ago.  Hassan Habibi, who is few years older than Gheleich still looked quite sharp.

Kamkar: I agree 100% with your charcterization of so called "iranian intellectuals" during shah time. First of all, almost all of them now be Ghohkhory oftand.  This is just demonstrating how shallow they were.  As it appears, the communist propaganda machine was working well everywhere, and these people fell to their agenda.  And it also shows how much Iran would have been much worse off, if Mossadagh would have succeeded, in exact opposite to what some of existing opposition groups claim.

politically speaking 60's and 70's were weird times worldwide. There were leftist movement all over the world. All Latin American countries were facing the communist ideology and that alone was the reason for many dictators like Pinochet coming to power. Iran was a much more volatile situation having hundreds of miles in common border with the Soviets. The USSR like today's Russia was never a reliable friend or even a natural country to us. They have screwed us more than any other nation. And all those so called intellectual leftist in Iran were just so stupid that they couldn't see the path of progress that Iran was taking at the time. I'm not a big fan of monarchy but I believe Shah was more to the left than those idiots. He had many social programs. sazeman-e shir-o-khorshid, Free education all the way to university, feeding school children at and many other things. My younger brother and sisters would come home with Oranges, Pistachio, and cookies from school. 90% of Iranians today can not afford buying pistachio for their Norooz sofreh.

I do not want to bad mouth Parviz Gheleich, since he was a great player.  Hi father was a worker working in a factory during Mossadegh time and a tudeh party member.  Tudeh party was like a poisson for Iran.  Almost every educated person in Iran were either a member or supported of the party.  How can a popular party be so wrong and an agent of an enemy country? And yet, they had an intellectual twist to it.

Yes, that is Mostafa Arab and now Dr Arab, and still alive, and well.  When he played football, he worked in Iran air force as a surgent.  He obtained his Ph.D after moving to US. He was one of the figures openly advocating for Shah when it was not popular.  Clearly showing, the rest of people including myself did not know sheet about politics.  Most footballers were not politically informed back then.  Parviz Gheleich was a leftie.

Among Arab counties Muscat was really impressive. A very different crowd of Arabs compared to for example other GCC countries. Very educated society with almost everyone with ability speaking English. Very historic and deep culture and they admire their Sultan. Yemen and Oman were essentially the very original inhabitants of the Arabian peninsula. Rabat is also beautiful. I think the whole county of Morocco from Tangier to Casablanca to Marrakech is a must see.

The Caucasus Yerevan, Tbilisi, and Baku are all also a must visit for all Iranians in terms of cultural closeness. Pure fun.

Ashgabat, Dushanbe, Tashkent, and Ulaanbaatar are on the waiting list.

One metropolitan international city that many Iranians in US miss is Mexico City. Only 3.5 hours flight from LA and is one of the most cultural capitals on universe.

You are right, under Trump the chance of these guys making a democratic Hoseinieh in the Whitehouse is slim to none. But ... again you are right... under Biden this could have been manifested in no time. Democratic Progressive Liberals in major European countries like UK, France, and Germany are already there.

I am overseas been in Dubai and Austria Belgium and Germany and Dubai looked least Islamic. Democratic Islamic Republic of Belgium is the place to see.
