Comments: Shahin, you were talking about Baharmast and doosti. I had a similar experience in 89 when I used to live in LA area fya year. I went to watch some jAme doosti game hoping I get a glimpse of honarmandan. Well there way game going on and Namdar was the referee. He was missing one lineman. I volunteered. That was my first experience refereeing.
Comments: It was tough. It had already heat up to mid 90's. I gave them and myself water breaks in each half.
Comments: I actually did great. Having refered for 20. years and watching at least two games day kept me pretty updated. One of the pro players during the game told me sir you gotta come back from retirement. I would have but you don't see referees in their 60's anymore.
Comments: some of the most prominent stars in the history of Iranian football.
Comments: One thing I am surprised at is Indian is their soccer. You'd think being so much under the influence of Great Britain and many generations living in England, there would be many footballers with Indian background but not so many. Their game is still cricket and they have so much passion for it.
Comments: Cubans also are good in Baseball. Just thought I mention it in case some may want to look into it and change their mind. Anyways. As shahin said baseball or softball (god I hope everyone knows what softball is) is an American family thing. Big among Mexicans too. Iran also has a baseball organization and I heard they have an Iranian coach.
Comments: Zinsky:
Amrika Setiz outside our two boards need to be defined better but it is not a made up phrase on these two boards. It clearly identifies the attitude of the posters ![]()
Comments: KAmkAr was it tough to ref? Did you make mistakes? ' I did ref a few times. Not with kids but adults. And not pro. It ain't easy.
Comments: In early days of Jame Doosti (Pearce College) in the valley World Cup referee Essy Baharmast was nice enough to come and do Jame doosti matches. We had this guy named Ramin (now lives in Orange County doing real estate) little fast winger and great dribbler. He would dive a lot and after the dives he roles at least 6-10 times on the grass. In a semifinal match Ramin did his patented 10-roll dive. This was before the WC that Essy officiated but he was still very famous in doing games. After Ramin stopped rolling Essy went to him and said, "Do you have ESPN at home? I am there every week, get up"
Comments: Kamkar: I think the cargo shorts brought down the expectations during the game
Comments: I will be happy to explain the baseball rules to oon yeki if it helps
Comments: " He explained me the rules each time but I filtered out. " 😂😂😂😂😂
Comments: Sharing a story...Yesterday, my youngest, now 21 had a : friendly game with his semi pro team playing against a USL championship team (like our Azadegan). We get there 7:30AM. Game was scheduled for 8:00AM cause it's hot like hell by the Gulf. The refs didn't show up. Waited till close to 9:00 and still no refs. Have you all guessed the rest? Yes I did. In my street Khaki shorts and my polo shirt. Got the whistle from one of the coaches and I called the game after more than 16 years from my last referring. It went well. Must have ran at least 4 or 5 miles. No assistants.
Comments: kAmkAr, I’m sure you know this but “Amrika setiz” is not actually a word. It’s a made up label to put down people and divide us even further. If you are not 100% with a group, you are more than likely a “Amrika setiz”! No worries, I’m being labeled that myself and tell you the truth, it doesn’t hurt as much as they were hoping it would!!! I’m just happy some of these people are not in charge of anything important.
Comments: Today I saw Rashti posted that I once said: "Americans are the most coordinated big people. "I thought he meant the way I am coordinated with Farzad to make sure everybody left the site or I am in coordination with him when arguing with Zinsky I think I once said that Americans have the best hand eye coordination and it was in relationship to same type of sport discussions. Not sure what big people means here
