On this one the first two times I saw it, was not PK. The 3rd and 4th time I said perhaps it was. The 5th and 6th time it was definitely a PK

You are right though about this Arsenal game. The very last one they also did the same.

Same thing again on a non penalty call for CP

Comments:
It is different than instant replay in NFL. In NFL it depended what the call by the ref was. And then there has to be an objective evidence to reverse the call.
In VAR the review does not look for objective evidence for reversal.
I have seen one case that the ref did two VARS on the same play. The second one was questioning his second judgement.

Comments:
Yes VAR judges are going with the non call more often now giving the ref the benefit of the doubt. This Arsenal penalty and the non foul call on Partey would have been reviewed over and over until everybody would have convinced themselves that it was a foul thus no penalty

Comments:

The ref is imposed a call if it is a goal line or offside decision.  Otherwise close calls are at the discretion of the ref.  He cannot be forced the call.

Who has the final say?

The VAR can only give their opinion. The match referee has three options when they hear what their colleague has to say:

  • Leave their decision unchanged.
  • Accept the VAR's suggestion regarding a decision.
  • Watch the incident again themselves via a TV screen inside the stadium.

May be true about the 3-2 VAR verdict (I am not sure) but still they have been applying the same principal i mentioned befre sending it to the ref

Goal line and offside is based on technology and not ref’s call.

Shahin, isn’t it that they are 5 VAR judges. And if their verdict is close enough (3-2) they call the ref?

Shahin whom he voted for just emphasise him not having a party loyalty.

And these indictments are just adding more to his popularity.  it is now peaked. Because many ordinary republicans are looking at this to be politically driven.

Democrats did it in 2016 and they lost the election.  In 2020 same thing, near 80 million voted for him, and now Biden in a downward spiral not sure how these things will help DNC.

As I said both RNC and DNC will be happy with a Republican as long as it is not Trump.  Foreign policy dictates it for both committees as opposed to ordinary people who have other domestic priorities.

This basically will result in not nitpick go with the referees gut call

I have been watching quite a bit of football this new season. It has become clear to me that the VAR process has changed for non calls and I think for better. Looks like they look at it in VAR room and if with one or two views do not tell them anything, they let the non call go without asking the ref to review it. If they stay consistent with this approach, I think every team will accept it

No I really think MAGA is still minority.  Conservatives (McConnell type) and neoconservatives like Mitt Romney still hold the majority.

I do not see DeSantis for example as MAGA.  There are MAGA wannabe’s who are out there to get Trump votes.  DeSantis is one.  Democrats (not ordinary registered democrats like you and I), but those of the establishment will be ok with a DeSantis as long as it is not Trump.

Trump is just a totally different story and both RNC and DNC don’t want to deal with him.

I think at this stage, who Trump has voted for in the past as a private citizen is irrelevant after 4 indictments [smile]
