Comments: A short story about my accent. Right after highschool I went to Tehran to attend a computer training course that took about a year. I found a پانسیون in newspaper's adds. I went to the address and knocked on the door. A lady opened the door and I all I said was سلام. She goes: Are you from Kermanshah? I was thinking what the heck! 🤣
Comments: When I'm talking my proud Kurdish accent is so loud and obvious. That's why I do better in writing. When you write you don't do it with an accent.
Comments: Wow, I, on the other hand, am the opposite of you. Not such a good speaker but when it comes to writing I'm as good as Ahmad Kasravi🤣
Comments: If you think my English is bad, you should read some letters I had to write for legal purposes in Farsi! I was embarrassed 😞! My farsi is fine when speaking but writing is something else. I was really bad at انشا in high school but now, I would give myself 2/20!l at best! Not having or using farsi keyboards is also a major factor.
Comments: Speaking of grammar and spelling which after 44 years I'm still terrible at, it's been a long time that I've been wondering why is it that we're all not writing in Farsi? The reason I'm bringing this up is that some of my friends sons and daughters born and raised here do their best to speak in a broken Farsi together. One of them once asked me why do you all, born and raised in Iran are communicating in English and not your beautiful language? I didn't have an answer. I'm sure if we ever see each other in person we will speak Farsi but when it comes to writing, English is the preferred language. It might be our desktop keyboard which forces us to use English. Just my thoughts for the day.
Comments: kAmkAr, Good one 😎. I know you are not a screaming person but believe me one can scream and yell pretty loudly behind the computer! It does look stupid but it is done daily… I just read my previous post and boy my grammar is terrible in the morning. I should get my coffee and donuts before typing!
Comments: Prior to England becoming a superpower back then, wars were fought at one’s borders. Of course, borders would expand after each victory but still it was a war at the border. I might be wrong but England was either the first or one of the first countries to take the war way beyond the borders. One read was that England didn’t really have neighbors! Either England or another European countries learned how to use ships to go to other continents and start wars there. Spain, Portugal, Holland and of course Great Britain used their navy to shift the wars to far away places. America, being a British colony, expanded that with navy, Air Force and the rest of military forces. They also learned from their European fathers to set camp everywhere and try to change them to be more American! Russia and China were still it the old fashioned way. Take over the neighboring countries. Russia still prefers that strategy. China is using military but even more economical power to move beyond their borders.
Comments: Zinsky, I know you didnt mean it but when have I ever yelled at you or anyone else? Even more important how am I going to yell in this board? I will look crazy if I did.🤣🤣🤣
Comments: “America NEEDS a boogie man.” Exactly. That move gives America few points to move up the most hated country! Please don’t yell at me for saying that. It’s just my humble opinion!!!
Comments: Spain vs Sweden & England vs Australia. I predicted Japan & England but obviously Japan is not there so I would say Spain vs England. Spain should be able to win it all.
Comments: kAmkAr, On your list of countries that screwed us, I suppose it depends on your timeline. If you pick a century, I can be more accurate. But I agree England is on top. USA and Russia could move up and down depending on the timeframe. Muslims, Mongols, Greek and the rest are part of the older world. At the end I would blame ourselves as you described. We didn’t learn from history and always ended up getting the same results from different groups.
Comments: Shahin, looks like I was wrong on Kane. He is going to Bayern. I am surprised. What a goal by Saka as I was writing this
Comments: Well, the Colombians couldn't do it. I'll root for Spain.
Comments: Zinsky, the answer is very simple. America NEEDS a boogie man. Who else better than these guys!
Comments: I think we can all agree, IRI doesn’t want a normal relationship with USA. It will not serve them well to have a normal and open relationship with the USA. America is also playing this game of cat and mouse. Increase pressure for a while and then give them a lifeline when it’s really bad. Every few years, just when we think IRI is about to collapse, they get few $Billons to survive few more years. Once again, we can see why IRI wants to keep USA as enemy. Why America is playing the game is the question. That was particularly why I thought lifting sanctions was a good idea back then. I was hoping that a more open IRI with European and American companies slowly but surely finding their way in would lead to IRI losing control. It might have been a pipe dream but a good dream! |
