İsmail Kartal

İsmail Kartal (born 15 June 1961), colloquially known by the given nickname "Arap İsmail" due to his tanned skin, is a Turkish professional football manager and former player who was most recently the manager of Süper Lig Fenerbahçe.

Playing career

Born in Istanbul, Turkey, Kartal played eleven seasons in the Turkish Süper Lig. He won two national league titles with Fenerbahce in 1984–85 and 1988–89 seasons. He played for Denizlispor and Adanaspor at the end of his football player career. Kartal made six appearances for the senior Turkey national football team from 1982 through 1985.

Managerial career

After his retirement, he started his management career and coached Karabükspor, Sivasspor, Mardinspor, Altay, Malatyaspor, Orduspor and Konya Anadolu Selçukspor. He led Sivasspor to win TFF First League title for the first time in club's history. Between 1997 and 1999 and 2010 to 2014, he was the assistant coach at Fenerbahce. After Ersun Yanal's resignation, Kartal took over as manager.

At the end of the 2014–15 Süper Lig season, he officially announced his resignation as manager of Fenerbahçe, though it was clear beforehand that he would not be manager for the next season. He led Ankaragücü to win TFF First League title in 2018.

On 12 January 2022, following the departure of Vitor Pereira, Kartal signed with Fenerbahçe for the rest of the season. At the end of the season, Fenerbahçe finished in second place, by eight points behind Trabzonspor. Kartal finished with a record of twelve wins, five draws and four losses in 21 matches.

On 28 June 2023, Kartal signed a one-year contract with Fenerbahçe for his third managerial spell at the club. In the 2023–24 season, he led the club to achieve 99 points in the Süper Lig, yet they finished second behind their rivals Galatasaray with 102 points. Upon the conclusion of the season, he left the club on 31 May 2024.

CNN Top Anchors Jake Tapper and Anderson Cooper Were Ordered Not to 'Express Any Outrage' While Covering Donald Trump's Inauguration

CNN boss Mark Thompson seemingly wants his employees to be more sympathetic to Donald Trump as the network gears up for the next four years.

According to a report, Thompson told 100 journalists — including stars Jake Tapper and Anderson Cooper — not to “pre-judge” the president during their inauguration coverage on Monday, January 20.

Thompson allegedly warned “against expressing any outrage of their own” toward the Republican, who ran opposite Kamala Harris in November 2024.
The meeting occurred on Sunday, January 19, ahead of the inauguration, according to the Status newsletter.

The report claimed Thompson “made it clear that he did not want the coverage to relitigate the past,” seemingly alluding to the hostile relationship the network has with the politician. Thompson apparently asked employees to steer reporting away from Trump’s legal troubles, including his “hush money” conviction.

The CEO asked his workers to be “open-minded” about the next four years under Trump’s administration.

Additionally, Thompson announced massive layoffs on Thursday, January 23.

Lots of good games on TV. Great weekend to get lazy. Postponed my trip to stay and enjoy the rain.  Hopefully there'll be no mudslides. Still have not been able to go and see my property.

I will watch it Ramin. Yeah... I am not very impressed with Ferdossipoor, professionally. The dude has ADD I think. He had some 60 darajeh or 360 darajeh episodes which are simply awful. He tries to be comic.

Farrzod: Regarding Rooshan's complaints about coaches, there is this hilarious FUN 360 (with Aboutaleb) Episode 18 or 19, that makes fun of his constant criticisms. "Ameh man Bishtar goal mizad"!!!!

Every one of this program's episodes is a great masterpiece- much better than "khaleh-zanaki" interviews of Ferdosipour.

I Will need to dig into Tempus AI. AI enabled Preceision Medicine.

Ex-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband made $38 million worth of stock trades in the weeks leading up to President Donald Trump’s inauguration — including an investment in a once-obscure artificial intelligence firm whose shares have soared nearly 50% in the past week.

According to the filing, Paul Pelosi bought $100,000 worth of call options in Tempus AI on Jan. 14. Since the Pelosi position was revealed, the company’s stock has surged.

When the market opened on Jan. 14, Tempus AI stock was trading at around $32 a share. As of Thursday, however, shares of Tempus AI, which went public last June in an IPO that priced the stock at $37 per share, were trading at around $50.50 per share — an increase of 60%.
