Comments: A rare occurrence: While the common belief is Yalda is celebrated at the last night of autumn ( 30 Azar), the original reasoning for Yalda per Older Iranian civilizations had been celebrating at the longest night of year, to offset the forces of Ahriman ( darkness) with bonfire, dances, story telling,…. Often times the longest night of season, happens to be the last night of autumn. This year that is also true for most of Iran, except for a band stretching from Azarbaijan and Kurdistan, passing through Tehran towards Afghanistan, where in the night of DAY 1st is one second longer than the night of 30 Azar. For other regions of Iran , both nights have the same identical duration.
