Wow... did not know about this. So blown out of proportion. It is the Olympics for Christ sake with no ill spirit. I don't think there was any disrespect. It actually looked smart and creative.

But then what can you do with those ideological religious people around the world. Many cannot distinguish divinity from man made religion. There should be an international law, that all religious activities even praying should be held in private.

Americans, Iraqis, Koreans, Hungarian, Italians, even the Egyptian Imam, and French bishops going nuts. Assyrians going nuts. Even Catholic leaders join French bishops in condemning Last Supper scene at Paris Olympics opening.

look at all these shit:

"Last night’s mockery of the Last Supper was shocking and insulting to Christian people around the world who watched the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games," House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said in a post on X.

Iraq's Chaldean Catholic Church was among the voices of disapproval, issuing a stern statement:
"What happened at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics is shameful and a mockery of the Christian religion,".

Patriarch Cardinal Louis Raphael Sako of the Chaldean Catholic Church mirrored the sentiment, admitting that he "stands with the Church in France and its Assembly of Bishops."

Archbishop Benedictus Younan Hanno of the Syriac Catholic Church of Mosul also added his comments:," he stated, further emphasizing the gravity of the offense by calling it "an insult not only to the religion but also to humanity."

Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini:
"Opening the Olympics by insulting billions of Christians around the world was a really bad start, dear French," he wrote. "Seedy."

The United Christian Churches of Korea (UCCK), the largest coalition of Protestant churches in Korea, has joined international protests against the segment of the Paris Olympics opening ceremony on Friday that parodied Leonardo da Vinci's famous painting, The Last Supper.

The grand imam of Egypt Al- Ahzar condemned the “insulting scenes” involving Christ during the Paris Olympic Games opening ceremony on Friday, calling it “reckless extremism and barbarism.”

Hope the conflict between Israel and Hezbolah doesn't spread to our homeland. The killing of those kids playing football was so depressing. One family lost all their four kids in that missile attack. Hard to imagen what the parents are going through. But that has been a daily occurring in Gaza for the past 9 months in a much larger scale.
This whole crappy situation could have the easiest solution. I was talking to a naive colleague of mine who has no idea what's going on in that part of the world. He asked me why can't they just split the land in half and get the bloodbath over with? He made perfect sense. He even suggested a half a mile of demilitarize zone just like the one in the Korean peninsula. Anyone with an ounce of common sense could ask this question but sadly one of the two parties has a big appetite for more land.

Thanks Shahin.
I’m sure we won’t be hearing that explanation on Fox News or for that matter any “ main stream” media

Couldn’t post the pictures
The top picture refers to the picture of Olympic ceremony that some thought was mimicking last supper, the bottom picture is reference to the famous last supper painting

I don’t know if this was discussed here or not. The controversy over the opening ceremony and opportunistic right wingers, Trump, Musk, ….jumping on the opportunity to denounce the satanic wokism of the Olympics opening ceremony.
Read this is in another media. Worth to share, without knowing any of the facts myself:) :
1️⃣ Wrong and Strong
The above image wasn't of the Last Supper, but of an ancient Greek Bacchanal....a celebration of the Greek god of Wine, Bacchus.
Cause the Olympics are Greek in origin, and an Bacchanalia is also ...Greek in origin.
Nothing to do with Christianity
Nothing to do with insulting their 'religion'
And yet they didn't think to check before freaking out about what they thought it meant...
So interesting how the facts did nothing in the face of these strong feelings...
2️⃣ Bait and Switch
Anyone who thinks that the bottom picture has anything to do with actual Christianity or 'The last supper' was equally mistaken
Jesus was not a white dude ...
That scene is a figment of someone's imagination and yes, it was validated and venerated by the Catholic Church...
Doesn't make it factual, or accurate, or holy or anything else.
That image and it's eurocentric connotations are also of a mockery of the truth of all that Jesus stood for, some could argue, even more so than the upper image
Yes, I said what I said
yes, I am a Christian, and yet I'm clear on the difference between religious iconography, and things that Jesus would actually cared about, like honesty and justice
Once again, don't let the facts get in the way of your strong feelings!”

On the other side these presidents are consumed with world affair with a good chunk of their time and agenda. You also have to keep in mind that this country is not any Norway or Sweden. A capitalist yet world leader with lots of responsibilities to address a lot of things.

I do believe in a strong America. And I don't mean militarily only. Definitely a strong military, a strong economy, strong technology, strong medicine, atrong science, strong healthcare, strong infrastructure, a superpower with high authorities.

For a lot of what you mentioned, that is why we elect house members and senators. That's the legislative job. And sure then politics plays on both sides. And lots of pissing contest.

I think Obamacare is intact and won't be replaced. A good 10 years from now it will be part of our culture.

Wheelchair issues have to be addressed. Right now half of the wheelchair users at LAX are Hamvatans.

And then lastly. You don't fuck with a big country with big military and nuclear bomb. Don't fuck with them just contain them.

For my personal situation, I cannot live without Obamacare until I get medicare. I also cannot have the starting age for medicare & social security to go up.

Remember Trump tried to dismantle Obamacare without any replacement and almost succeeded if it was not by the famous McCain thumb down

The reason I put the wheelchair number out there was trying to understand what should be the size of the group in order to have legislation and laws set aside for them

The pacifist/isolationist side at this moment is not an real vibrant movement. I consider Bernie as one but he even cannot get over the Trump presidency hump and you know that brings a lot of baggage

Shahin. Trust me I wish there was somebody else other than him fighting these guys. Someone with a different attitude but same vision. I am not voting based on personalities. Issues and agenda is what I am interested in.  I really don't know what democrats agenda is.  They never even said ending Russia war. Not even once.

Honestly RFK Jr is not too far off. At the end he is a Kennedy and very bipartisan and balanced. Center by definition. If he had a chance to win I would have voted for him. But he was left out of Primaries and he talked about it.
