These are the current AFC rankings. There will be Pot 1,2,3 for 3 groups of 6. Top 2 of each group (6 teams) will qualify directly. Second place teams (6 more) will go through another tournament (fifth round) to see who goes to the intercontinental playoffs.
The fifth-round winner will join one team each from CAF, CONMEBOL, and OFC and two from CONCACAF in the inter-confederation play-offs.
Here are the current rankings in groups of 3 for 3 ppots, so I am not sure if there will be another one before the June 27th draw or if they go by this ranking:
