Comments: Farzad: It was 1-12th grade, I would say 2000 students. The top floor was all dorms for shabaneh roozi students. We had students that for one reason or another, parents were not around. I think they will send them there from outside Tehran. That school was really set up for students to go abroad for college, mostly UK & US. We got are O Level & A Level (UK standards) in 9th grade

Comments: Yes Farzad. We were part of the inaugural season with RP team in 1975. Although I had left Iran by then but was in touch with my friends. I would have been on that team for sure. The very first game of the season, we tied RP team 1-1 and the guy scored the goal was Ashkan Noamouz who you met in Qatar. I was really pissed at my parents pulling me out of that school for the sake of their own careers at that time
Comments: This is Hilarious
Comments: The only thing is that leaving Iran at age 15 meant that I did not see Iran. Mostly Tehran, Mashhad, tabriz, babol, Sari, and... did not see Shiraz or Esfahan. But nowdays when I go to iran, the last place I want to be is in Tehran. Tehran has no charater and does not offer much. They try to taghlid and end up with gaudy malls and... Went to a steak house in Khiaboon Fereshteh called Ghassab. Supposedly very high end. There were wine glasses on the table and then this guy came and actually poored red wine for me. It did turn out to be Aab AlbAloo. Who in a right mind wants to eat his steak with Aab AlbAloo. That is why I do not stay in Tehran or even Rasht, I really enjoy small towns in Iran from Nayeen to bojnord. South and central Iran (yaz, Kashan, Maybod, Gol pAyegan, Ardakan,...) is the real Iran. Many amazing things to see in Khorasan and Kerman. And nekbats dont do anything for tourism.
Comments: My mom, you could say was an immigrant moving from Baku to Rasht, and my Grandpa from dad side immigrated from Georgia (gorjestan). Never seen any of my grand dads. Only saw my blond grandmother from my mom's side. We are 6 kids. 3 white (I mean whilte; blue/green eyes and light hair); and 3 Indian looking (LOL ![]() ![]() . ). Two of my sibilings (older sisters) moved to USA in 1972. And then I joined them in holloween of 1977 at age 15. My father, somewhat chapi (I say somewhat because he was pro West and admired their advancement in medicine, and industry), ... he worked his ass off to send all the 6 kids abroad. He finally settled and retired in Sweden. I went to school in Rasht Elementry School: Mehr Aayeen, Middle School: Keyvan, and 1 year of high school: Shahpoor; and 3 years of high school in Louisville, Ky: Thomas Jefferson High School. Played soccer in school in Iran and and in the US. Tried out as a kicker for High School football team. Was not easy to put a ball that does not look like a ball 30 meters into the uprights. Love Iran and Love America. Did my ancestory.com and also 23 & me. 81% Caucasion, 10% Anatolian, and yes 9% Eastern Europe Jew. My parents and grandparents were all born muslim. I have no idea where that jewish percentage comes from. There were no signs of jewish in my kids 23 & me testing. So could be an anomaly. That pretty much wraps me up.
Comments: Shahin, didn't you guys at Andisheh played RP team.

Comments: Interesting, my wife went to Don Bosco too in Mexico. It was an all-girls school
Comments: Shahin, what an interesting recount of your childhood and the wonderful trips. Thanks for sharing.

Comments: Farzad: Looks like we have to pay $12.99 for MLS pass this year
Comments: I like Moin. I remember in 1980-81 we received a cassette tape from Iran which was recorded in a basement somewhere in Isfahan. The called the tape Shabaneh. It was Moin before becoming famous. The cassette had amazing songs including "yeki ra doost midaram". I think the followoing year Moin left Iran and IO believe secretly
Comments: I had a very interesting childhood as far as traveling and seeing the world. My parents were the first among relatives to get a college degree. My dad worked for the bank and my mom taught geology 6 tabiei in high school. they put me in Andisheh (Don Bosco) school. Same school where Firouz Naderi went and i was also classmate with Omid Kordestani the google guy (here in college as well). Don Bosco was a catholic priests school but 80% of the students were muslims but we had many Armenians, Jews and Assyrians as well. The school academically was average (nothing like Alborz) but we spent half a day studying variety of subjects in English. My young parents wanted to see the world so they took me everywhere with them. My uncle was a student in West Germany before I was even born so we would go to Germany every summer instead of shomal but we did not have enough money. I have traveled to Germany as a child three times on a bus (TBT), train & private car or a combination of the three. We would send a small amount of money ahead of time so that my uncle could buy a beat up VW which was often broke down and I remember vividly being towed all over place. Small VW could not carry 3 of us and the luggage comfortably so we had stuff on barband I used to sit on top of a suitcase inside the car. I don't think there is a country in Europe that I have not seen including Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and East Germany. Later in life I really appreciated that my parents did all that even though on the surface it seemed stupid and not economically wise. Any way good times during childhood

Comments: I like "In tan bemireh" by solati. I think it is called hedyeh. I think Solati has one of the best voices among los angelesi singers. His Kabootar song is very nice too..
Comments: I am not sure may be before this. Here is the original version with Shohreh & Farrokhzad in Iran
Comments: Shahin, I thought the two Shahrams hated each other's guts.
Comments: This is also a song that I love and the video is done very well
My dad said fuck this shit I am going to Sweden.
Comments: Yes he used to hang out with our team at jame doosti as he was friends with our coach. The two songs you posted are iconic. I have not gone to a party that has dancing that they do not include these two songs as part of the night's play list
▫️ Great guy. Mashtieh mashti. ▫️ The dude that plays org is Mehdi Haghi. We went to the same school in Rasht. ▫️
Comments: Yes I am indeed having fun ![]() Yes I am no shahollahi, was pro revolution and certainly not from a family who was a khan that shah took away my land and had raiat working for my parents and grand parents. Among many, one of my weak spots is that I can cannot stand hypocrisy and gondeh gooz people that take themselves too seriously as some moral authority. I am also honest about my feelings. Anyway it is all good and I am having fun
The only thing is that they don't realize how much fun you're having. These people will also made fun of Firooz Naderi because he claimed he is an American and Iranian and Loved America. Or Dr. Cyrus Hadadi below. Lovely guy.. He wants to go to iran so bad.. His father said Goh khordi..

Comments: ![]() ![]() ![]() Rashti jAn, what you are talking about is the "I am Tony" effect. In college several Iranian students would tell people that their name is Tony and they are from Italy. All of this stems from lack of confidence in who you are and now a days, importantly, where you are from. In our own oonyeki we have Iranians who pretend to be AmrikAyi and shrug away from any any local criticism. Problem always is elsewhere. Iranians in general (not all but many) suffer from lack of confidence.I think what we have over there is Ruhollah affect. They suffer with over confidence like akhounds in Islamic Republic but the rest of the world laughs at them

Comments: We always screw up playing in Arab stadiums. Time to bring more talented Khuzestani players who can deal with Arab mentality. During Shah time most of our players were Khuzestani. Now bunch of soosools from Tehran who self destruct when facing Arabs in critical games.
Comments: Bottom line We have been saying same things about our football for 44 years. Until IRI exists Iran will never achieve anything. Va salam nameh tamam. Realist think Qatar was a “good team” and we should just be happy. Qatar team was beatable with a better coach.
Comments: Khodadad says that we will not have any players in team of Asian Cup 23 selection. I disagree. I think at least Azmoun will make it. Maybe even Jahanbakhsh. JB worked his ass off in the last two games. My selection will also include EZT. Beiranvand before this game was the keeper of the tournament but Qatar's keeper after UZB PKs and the game against us should have the edge.
Comments: I think Khodadad is totally against GN as our head coach. He says good things about GN but at the same time with respect to tactics and all, he is screaming what an idiot. Kind of Vasat Bazi on the subject. ▫️ |
