The other thing ref goes by is the angle the ball is moving after the incident. And the route the ball took could have only happened if Qatari player touched the ball. Anyways Faghani said he whistled in favor of iran. 1) Not calling the Pk (VAR had to interfere) and Faghani said even after VAR it was not a PK. 2) giving only yellow to Shoja (and VAR had to convince him to give Shoja a red). These are not signs of biased ref.

Comments: Farzad, thanks for your VAR explanation. If I was the ref I would have called that a penalty and then let the VAR correct me. It was a close one. From the angle he was it would have been hard to tell who touched the ball first. Even the commentators initially thought it was a penalty.

The opposite is true as well when our team loses but human tend to look for emotional high all the time but this is at least relatively harmless if you can move on from it quickly. Best news today is my son not going to watch the game with bunch of buddies in a bar in SF and come home to watch it with me. My daughter will be around as well for Taylor. My wife will be out shopping though Go 49 YEARS!!
