Comments: Wow Shahin. Huge tree. Glad everyone is safe Luckily I trimmed mine two weeks ago at a fraction of the cost. They were not as big!
Comments: Wow, that looks like bug damage. Hope they're ok.
Comments: This was the tree in my sister's back yard that came down two weeks ago with just little rain & wind. It tore up the concrete in neighbor's backyard. It dropped on a similar size tree (both 150 years old) behind it and almost took that one out from the root as well. The two tree almost hit 3 houses but luckily the only damage was 30 feet of a fence and some ground damage. Right now I get texts that trees & power lines are down in multiple locations. This is what we are dealing with when we get lots of rain and wind. This was was 18K to clean up
Comments: Remember this one from the western movies we used to watch in Iran. https://t3.gstatic.com/licensed-image?q=tbn:ANd9GcQI8BIy_37hqj2h4ldbhMIroMkMyDg1T5Y9w7N0tzV1lZ2seaFrwPrYyGX hwbASSPnl
Comments: Shahin Texas is not flat. I mean it's a huge state. 2nd in the union. We have a whole region north of San Antonio called Hill Country. We have mountains in West Texas. Texas is a 4 season state.
Comments: Does not sound good but then again you need the rain because of the drought. I had seen some documentries on water crises in LA area and how they get the water from further north through some giant pipes/canals. Down here with many hurricanes, Tropical storms, even tornados, we end up losing power. Texas power grid is totally separate from the rest of the country and it's getting too old and too expensive to update. Because of that I have a big generator to kick in in times of need.
Comments: whenever I have friends from other parts of US or Canada, they expect beaches and sand type environment in California. What they tell me is that I did not know you guys had so much hills and mountains next to the beaches. I think when you live in Florida & Texas which is as flat as it's get, you do not realize this. Living up in the hills & the woods to many Californians is very special and with wind and rain you will get hit if you live in higher elevations
Comments: Hang in there Cyruss, ours is over at least this storm. Kamkar: We had a many years of drought to a point that our water reservoirs were down to like 30% capacity. This also caused fire situations in summer & fall. Starting last year, we started to have a lot of rain but mostly in spurts but a lot like what is happening in LA they got 4" in one day which they may get 10" all year. Also we are getting rain with 50 mph winds which causes power outages as most of our electrical infrastructure is on poles & wires. The combination of years of drought and lots of rain causes land slides in high elevations
Comments: Shahin how bad is the storms and the rain in CA? I never think of CA as a flood state. Fire yes but too much rain? Since we get one Hurricane a year down here, I don't see two inches of rain as a big deal.
Comments: We got our Feb/ March annual totals in the last 18 hrs alone and still 2 days to go! Power still on, but it is inevitable that many will lose it at some point. Hard on pets as well! We may get a 5 minute:) break around 10!
Comments: No Kamkar dont do it ![]() How is everyone in LA?
Comments: Shahin,I'm so tempted to pay the other page a visit to see what's going on but I won't. It's the same feeling I used to get when to have when I would have changed the channel to Fox News :)) I'm ready for another 2nd hand nicotine. Will you?
Comments: اینا تحمل پیمپ و کسخولو نداشتن حالا ببین چیا دارن میگن 😂
Comments: Cyruss: Biggest storm of the season may be 2” of rain but it’s over now. Still some wind. Lost power for few minutes. I have an old house so I get water in the crawl space. The pump was working all day.You guys are going to get it much worse. Stay safe my friend.
Comments: Shahin, are you guys done with the storm? Hope all is well! So far 1.5 inches in the last 6 hours here, another 3 inches expected through Tuesday! |
