Comments: I truly believe that our boys took the game into their own hands in the second half and turned the game around. I just have a hard time thinking that GN changed his tactics. Just remember this was the guy who in the Syria game couldn't change his mind for the subs when Syria was granted a penalty.

Comments: The main change in second half was going from a 4-2-3-1 to a 4-1-4-1. Mohebi-Ghodos-EZT-JB provided a wall across the field to be able to press and get the second balls. Omid in front of the defense was able to distribute better rather than kicking the ball up the field

Comments: The reading of the first half game was very good, whether it was GN, assistants or the Italian analyzer guy. Japan basically was transitioning really fast and that speed was causing problems for 2 defensive midfielder and the two center back. We basically brought the press into their half of the field and Omid & EZT where bothering & disrupting the heck out of their midfielder. When we got the ball back, we quickly went on top to Azmoun and even if the ball did not get to him and was sent back by their defense, our midfielders were there to win the second ball. As if we got all the rebounds if this was basketball
Comments: Today the team played so well in the second half. Even the first half was solid. Against all odds, they came back and went for the jugular.

Comments: Cyruss .. no question that they delivered today. When the team wins like this, there is No criticism. I hope that we deliver in the next two games… In 2029, we got to semi by sweeping everyone with zero goal conceded but then we lost 3 zip to Japan. GN did well against Qatar a few months ago by beating them 4-0. He will be going into this game with full confidence. i did predict a win for Iran, because we do play solid against good teams.

Comments: Guys, not a GN fan here, but it made me wonder if he really had planned this tactical moves. I would not have thought that Omid Ebrahimi and Mohebi would have such a high effective usage rate. Omid wasn’t flashy , but he was really the heart of our MF and a destroyer of Japanese MF. The oldest player of tournament ( or one of the oldest?) played 90+ minutes non stop only couple of days after a hard game against Syria. Mohebi was very effective in rebounds and cleaning up, coming off the previous performances that were met with criticism . Gholizade or Ghaedi probably wouldn’t have been showing his physicality. He was in away, more Taremi and Sardar’s complement than either one of the two aforementioned. Who ever thought of starting these two guys,GN/ his analyzers/ assistants did the team right. |
