Comments: More News on Nebraska's electoral change effort Republicans step up effort to change Nebraska's electoral process to benefit TrumpRepublicans are stepping up their efforts to change Nebraska's electoral vote process to winner-take-all -- a move that would benefit former President Donald Trump in an expected close November election in which a single vote could make a key difference in the Electoral College. The winner-take-all electoral change could be pivotal if the Republican-leaning state allocates all of its five electoral votes solely to Trump instead of dividing them with Kamala Harris. Nebraska split its electoral votes in 2020, with President Joe Biden flipping the 2nd district, which includes Omaha. Trump endorsed the winner-take-all system in April. Pressure continues to grow on state lawmakers to as the state's full federal delegation, all Republicans, and other national GOP figures continue to push for the change. Gov. Jim Pillen, a Republican, would have to convene a special legislative session. Pillen released a statement on Friday saying he would not call a session unless GOP legislators show they have 33 votes needed to break an expected Democratic filibuster. Yet, state senators are not confident they have the votes; State Sen. Tom Berwer told the Nebraska Examiner he anticipates the group to come shy with 30 or 31 votes. That is a reason why Trump-ally Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina have been brought in to make the case. Graham flew to Nebraska Wednesday to meet with key stakeholders. It is all about Foreign Policy "I went and talked to some senators as the Governor. Senator [Pete] Ricketts and the Governor asked me to come out and to the caucus. I guess that's what you call it, about the state of the play in the world and the consequences of the next election on a foreign policy front," Graham told ABC News on Thursday. "I hope they will allow winner-take-all. [Splitting electoral votes] was created in 1992 to help Clinton. Trump's going to win the state by 20 points. "A senator would introduce a bill once the special session convenes, which would then hold a public hearing. If the bill is advanced by the committee, it would move to the floor of the Legislature and would need to advance through three rounds of debate before final passage." However, if Pillen does call a special session, and members are able to break a filibuster, changes can be enacted quickly. According to Nebraska's deputy secretary of state, Cindi Allen, "If winner-take-all is passed by the legislature before the election, barring any challenges, winner-take-all would go into effect." This applies to any time in the election cycle. Even after early voting starts on Oct. 7. The secretary's office confirmed that if there are no legal challenges, the Nebraska legislature could push the change through at the very last minute, on Nov. 2 or 3, for example.
Comments: Oprah looking at the Audience and going "wtf is the she saying" At least add some dressings to that salad. This can't be. What can be, is unburdened by, what has been.
Comments: Very strange. Although polls were off in 2016 and even worse in 2020, All of sudden NYT showing polls in favor of Trump. Very strange. They had her up by 4 points a few days ago. ![]()
Comments: No doubt!! Warmonger Hillary inghadr Tokhmi bood beh Jill Stein bAkht.😀😃😀 But if Sanders was in the race Jill Stein would have been irrelevant. Maybe it was a karma. The Karma of pushing aside the leading candidate and replacing him with war hungry Hillary Rotten Clinton.
What is the impact this cycle? Anyone else aligned with NIAC?
Comments: Funny fact of the day: Springfield , Ohio ( were according to Trump immigrants steal and eat residents pets) ,had more murders under Trump than under Biden-Harris
Comments: Kamkar, Farzad so eloquently explained the obstacles of getting free health care and education at the Federal government level. I want to add couple more points here. Change is a slow process. Sometimes it takes generations. Federal policy route is the ultimate way to go, but not the only option. Overwhelming “ real meaningful “ changes that impact ordinary people’s lives, on the policy side, take place at the local or state level. At least in California, since that is what I see. And politicians are not usually the driving engines, but somehow delivering mandates. For that to take place you need an army of people to change/influence the legal and legislative landscape of decision makers. And in order to have that skilled army , you need to train them. This is where activism, support of non profits and being involved in grass roots matters. Next time we meet , I’ll show you first hand, the results of such work. In small and also grandeur populace. You want the change, make it happen. Or simply move to California:) or should I say Republic of California:)
Comments: Jill Stein got more votes in Michigan and Wisconsin than the difference of Trump and Hillary votes. There is a long history of these peace loving progressives handing elections to Trump and Bush. On the other side, we had Perot who stabbed Bush senior in the back and opened a lane for the comeback kid.
Comments: Very small and insignificant population sample. Not impact in overall poll results at all But survey of Muslim populations in three swing states show Jill stein and Cornel West getting more votes than Trump and Harris. The only possible significance could be Michigan
Comments: KAmkAr, I myself am promoter of Free healthcare and free education for all. I would say shelter for everyone too. But I think US being icon of capitalism and anti Marxism socialism and communism does everything it can to disassociate herself from those ideologies. That is why our Labor Day for example is different from any other country in the world. Our is first Monday of September and rest of the world is the infamous May Day. I think the idea is that you take one inch towards those ideologies, more will be asked towards it. I think US is extremely sensitive to it. Both on the democrats and republican side. Bernie sanders was the closest towards that and we saw how easily he was put aside. That is the philosophy of United States of America.
Comments: Neocons are definitely real. it was the birth child of PNAC that led to all the wars we've been witnessing during the past few decades. All of them wars turned out really bad for the US and the world but the neocons are still at it and not quitting.
Comments: It's definitely a form of censorship when the media does not cover other independent candidates. Or even Green party candidate doesn't get any attention from corporate media. Yes, you might see them in C-SPAN but who watches that. In brief the elections are rigged way before the voting starts.
Comments: Doostan, although I'm learning quite a bit from your discussions but I think we should echo and discuss what Ali P. talked about. If the country wants and needs changes, the focus must be on the most important issues like healthcare and free education. The candidates are just talking heads and their personality/character doesn't matter. The whole country must yell at them about those issues. These prostitute politicians love it when healthcare and education is not discussed. Of course they will lie their asses off. Like Zombie Biden promised to forgiving the student loans during the campaign.
