Iranian women's soccer team flies out of Australia

Five players accepted the visa offer soon after Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke visited their Gold Coast hotel and split with the rest of the team, who travelled to Sydney on Tuesday evening to catch a flight out of the country.

Daily Mail understands two more players and one procurement manager have since accepted asylum and did not get on the Malaysia Airlines plane out of Australia when it left about 10.45pm Tuesday following a lengthy delay at the gate.

A number of players were 'tearful' and embraced one another as they boarded the flight, while anti-regime protesters at Sydney Airport broke into cheers on hearing the more members of the squad had sought asylum.

Footage also emerged on Tuesday of one players being dragged by the hand to leave the Gold Coast hotel.

Why all the F-14 Tomcats were Shredded

When the US Navy retired the legendary F-14 Tomcat in 2006, fans hoped the iconic jet would live on in storage or foreign service. Instead, nearly every remaining aircraft was shredded in the Arizona desert. Why destroy one of history’s most famous fighters? The answer lies in Iran, national security, and a Cold War legacy that refused to die.

Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has reportedly sustained injuries in an assassination-style attack that occurred mere hours after he was officially named to succeed his late father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The state television channel referred to the 56-year-old cleric as “janbaz,” which translates to “wounded by the enemy,” indicating the gravity of the situation.

Notably, he has not been seen in public since the onset of hostilities, raising concerns about his safety and the stability of the regime.

The implications of Mojtaba’s reported injury extend beyond personal safety; many analysts suggest that if confirmed, it could further complicate the leadership crisis gripping the Islamic Republic. This is particularly alarming given that Tehran is presently facing not only intense external pressure from foreign adversaries but also considerable internal dissent and instability.
