Comments: Mehdi Taremi and Jorgen Strand Larsen on Nottingham Forest’s four-man striker shortlist Nottingham Forest’s hunt for a new striker has seen them draw up a four-man shortlist featuring Iran international Mehdi Taremi of Olympiacos, as well as Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. Forest are one of several clubs monitoring the potential availability of Strand Larsen, whereas Taremi is on the club’s radar because of his similarities to Chris Wood at a time when last season’s top scorer is missing after a knee operation. Taremi is a vastly experienced striker who joined Greek side Olympiacos from Inter Milan last summer, having helped the Italian club reach last season’s Champions League final. Aged 33, Taremi has made more than 100 appearances for Iran and has a proven scoring record, especially during five years in Portugal when he averaged better than a goal every two games for Rio Ave and then Porto. He was stopped from joining his Inter team-mates at last summer’s Club World Cup in the U.S., having been unable to get out of the Iranian Tehran because of the conflict between his nation and Israel. If Forest are to follow up their initial interest, it should help that their owner, Evangelos Marinakis, is also in charge at Olympiacos.
