Messi's bodyguard was everywhere. Even when he was taking corner kicks. Follows him everywhere.

Most of us achieved the American dream, I know I did. I’m very thankful for that.
My “complaint” is that the American dream is getting harder and harder to achieve. It shouldn’t be. This is the land of immigrants. We are the foundation of this nation. So much wealth and prosperity was created from young, hardworking immigrants. For America to stay on the top of the food chain, we need to keep the dream alive.
I think we (the achieved dreamers) need to pave a way for new dreams, whatever way possible.

Zinsky, Even with all those $ numbers that you posted I still believe that the US is the only place that a RELATIVE comfortable life can be made than anywhere else.

kAmkAr,
I personally seemed to have too much time in my hands!!!
What is the average salary for a fast food restaurant manager? I did some digging and found this, “Fast food restaurant manager salaries typically range between $32,000 and $57,000 yearly.”!
I’m sure the lower range is for less expensive areas of the country.
Can you see yourself raising couple of kids, having a home, two cars and the rest with that salary?
Cost for three things have gone way, way above the inflation and salary rates.
1- Housing
2- College
3- Healthcare
I also worked in a fast food restaurant when I started in America. I was making less than $4/hr in DC area.
I had 3 roommates and my rent was $150/month. My college tuition was (in state) less than $800/semester. School would provide health insurance for free (basic stuff, not major). Due to my income, college was free (grants which hasn’t changed much since then).
Same kid today in the same situation would make $10-15/hr max. Rent is probably closer to $800-$1,000/month with roommates. Lowest tuition is around $10,000/semester which grants would only cover $3k, if that. Let’s assume food, car, gas, books, supplies and clothing is doubled in the same time (I bought my first car for $200 and it lasted 3 years and gas was under $1). You do the math and tell me if this kid can get a degree, get married, raise couple of kids…
It’s not me hating America here! I’m just saying with cost of college and the rest, it’s really, really hard to achieve American dreams these days.

Why is it that I find myself in agreement with both Shahin and Zinsky? I think for majority of the content of their conversation they're also in agreement. It's just that they have too much free time 😁 on hand and they want to focus on the parts they don't agree with one another. The US might not be what it was like Zinsky pointed out but it's still possible for a high school diploma or even a non diploma to start working in any chain fast food or grocery stores and over years with hard work make it the store management level and then more. With a job like that it's possible to make a comfortable living. Reason I used fast food is that for years probably like some of you I worked In my young years while attending college. I recall I was getting offers to take store management but I wouldn't due to school.

Shahin,
Your list of things you like about America was not what I was asking for but that is ok. You listed what you like about your life in CA. I’m assuming (I know I asked people not to assume anything) that you were linking your life success to what America gave you. I totally agree with that. I know I would not achieve as much as I have (not perfect but great) anywhere else.
My question was a more general one about what makes America different (better) than the rest of the world TODAY.
I have said this multiple times. America of 40-50-60 years ago was the best and possibly the only place that would give a young person from a different country the opportunity to become whatever they wanted if they tried hard enough.
My concern and complaint (too much I guess) is that it is not the same. Either other countries have become better accepting and nurturing the young immigrants or America has become less of it.
If I was a young (high school educated kid with limited to no funds) today who was looking to immigrate to a different country other my own, America might not be the top choice.
I might be completely wrong but I can’t see myself starting from zero here today and get where I wanted to be in 5-10 years.

Went to see LAFC vs Inter Miami.  Great game and great atmosphere and great seat.

LA was the better team but the game changer was Messi. Last place team Miami goes ahead 3-0.  Final score 3-1.  Lots of celebrities.. heck Prince Harry was there…

Funniest thing was Messi’s bodyguard.  Would walk to every corner where Messi had to take the corner kick.  He is a navy seal. There was a Jimmy Jump on the field and man he ran and just grabbed the kid like a bird.

Massoud,
I don’t know you. You don’t know me. I appreciate the fact that you decided to talk to me directly instead of making assumptions about what I like/dislike and share it with the group.
I was an admin on this site for years. I decided to stop posting last year. I’m back now and post on both sites. I know people from both sites and enjoy talking to them. I don’t agree with them but that is fine with me.
I have no idea why you were banned but I know it doesn’t work. Everyone can easily change their IP and post as they wish.
I found common ground with people on both sites. There are others that I have nothing in common. I learned to deal with that my way.

Jenab Zinsky.  I did not assume anything. It is quite obvious.  We have showoor and intelligence too. You are jut being nice. But for me there is a redline. Respecting the site and without mentioning any names, all I can tell you is that the two individuals not only condemned the Zan Zendegi Azadi, they called it a failed Western plot.  I personally got banned by writing about the youngsters being killed and posting a few shameless video clips.  One of these guys called our Kurdish friend a tajzieh talab, the loser was then called a class act, and he is still allowed to post.  I am banned.  Go figure. I don’t have anything else to say about the subject.  We can move on.

GN and his Mafioso behavior to me is worse than Parvin. GN does not hide that he is part of this mafia. The other day I saw a video of him getting in a car going somewhere and his goons asked everybody to do a salavat. It came across as football Mafioso but also jomhoori eslami Mafiaoso
