If I may, I answer your question here.

 

In general VPN is out there to protect you when you are entering a suspicious site. For example for certain websites my device sends me an alert that you may want to use VPN for the purpose of protection.

 

The company I work for uses VPN as well. Also you can set your device such that it automatically switches to VPN when entering a suspicious site. In iran because of government limitations 99% of people use VPN. You cannot even google sometimes without it. China was the same. Our site is completely blocked in iran and you cannot get in without a VPN.

 

Now, the most common VPNs are the free ones such as ProtonVPN or VPN 360. Many in Iran use the latter. These VPNs provide a set number of IP addresses. And this is your issue. Those addresses are available for whoever uses that vpn. For example if you register to VPN 360 and say Shahin also registered on the same VPN360, you both get the same exact set of IP addresses. What does that mean?

 

Say you imposter me and you used an ip address from VPN 360. I ban you because of impostering. Now, tomorrow shahin wants to get in using VPN 360, (same set of ip addresses are available for him too) if he happens to use the same ip as you he will show as banned as well. So we don't use the banning function here or at some point we clear them. Because it may deprive many visitors from entering the site. Especially those in Iran who use the same VPN.

 

That is why we go with Email verification. The regular people, we have their email addresses and we can verify it. So there is never any impostering of regular posters. Others can post anything within rules using an anonymous handle and emails as long as they don't imposter and also they post within the rules.

 

So if you have been banned in a particular site and you do not know why the reason is as I explained. Someone with same VPN ip has been banned already and since you are using the same, it shows you as banned.
