Comments: One thing in general I am cognizant of is that Life is comprised of stages. What was true in our 40's is no longer true for us at this age. Enetring the 60's kind of put everything in perspective. This is true about vibes, living , and travelling. What we enjoy physically or even mentally changes. Travelling for example. Used to be time that we could jump on any plane and travel anwhere. Now, thinking of a long flight, you have to think twice. What you will enjoy when you get to the 70's will be different. I know now many friends who are a few years older than me are chosing Cruise trips as their vacation thing. Why? because they say they dont have to move around from this hotel to that hotel or from this cityto that city. An european river cruise does that for you. You are in one place without packing and unpacking and yet you see so many things. And you dont have to look for restaurants or anything. That is why you enjoy all these stages of life. And make sure you do not miss any of these stages. "Excuse" is your enemy, "fear" is your enemy. I am not saying that one needs to be reckless, NO. But if there is something you want to do in life (like going to Qatar and watching the world Cup) just fucking do it. Do not contemplate. Do not estekhareh. And trust me your wives won't leave you. As my mentor Dr. Dyer taught me "Excuses Begone". About spending money say, for a business class long distance trip, of course that depends on whether you really need it, financial situation, and... This is my rationale for it: 1- Of course business class with all of its perks and priorities it is just so convenient. You do not need to be at the AP 3 hrs before, you can be there 1 hr before max. Unless you want to go to the lounge and treat yourself well. 2- At this age we get all kinds of muscle pain or whatever by just sleeping fucking wrong. I cannot sit still in an economy seat for more than 5 hours. I get pain in my tailbone. I have to stretch, long hauls I need to lay down and all... So, I really use it because I need it and not for luxury purposes. 3- From financial standpoint, yes it is expensive, although there are many ways to find cheap biz class tkts. From buying from a wholesaler, to buying upgrade at check in counter, to becoming a frequent flier of a partiucular airline. But here is my main point: At this stage of now, if I dont do it now, when am I supposed to do it. Even if I have to pay lets say $3000 more, the question becomes "is this $3K expenditure going to put a big dent in my life and lifestyle". And as soon as my answer is know, the tkt is bought. I think when you get to this age, you do need to reward yourself. You come to this wold with nothing and you leave this world with nothing. Comments: kAmkAr, If you don’t mind sharing, what was the monthly cost for your insurance 20 years ago vs now? What was copay then vs now? My insurance for family of 4 went from $125/month to $750/month. My eldest got her own insurance and I’m now paying $600/month for 3 people. My company pays 2/3. My copay went from $10 to $30.
Comments: Zinsky, I think the term a "Good Insurance" is a relative term. My family and I for the past 33 years have had my employment insurance coverage and we could not have been happier with it.

Comments: I am reading two things regarding Taremi which can be related. I read Milan is low balling him on salary as they want to pay him 1.5M. They also want him to not go to Asian Cup. May be they are saying that this year with going to Asian Cup he is worth 1.5M
Comments: Group F is a killer group with PSG, Milan, Dortmond & Newcastle. Not sure this effects Taremi signing. Although PSG os no longer very good. Man City got an easy draw. The rest are pretty balanced

Comments: kAmkAr, That is unfortunate but also not unusual. Many people ended up bankrupt due to healthcare costs. I can give you an example of my own experience. Some 25 years ago, while playing soccer, I tore my Achilles tendon. Seem like a simple surgery but for some reason or another my foot got infected. Rather than one surgery and 6 months recovery, I ended up having 4 surgeries and nearly 2 years of recovery. I had a great insurance but at the end my bill ended up around $25k out of pocket. As you mentioned, I didn’t just pay the bill and negotiated it down to about $5k. But in all reality, why would the bill be $25k to start with?!?! If someone has insurance, why would the bill add up?
Comments: A confession: I did not read all the valuable info relating healthcare that you all posted. Somewhat of a busy day for me but I still wanted to inject my two cents. I believe a universal healthcare is the most basic right of people that each and every government needs to provide for their citizens. The US lacks that. Yes if you have a good insurance then you're fine. But if you don't you're screwed. A few months ago our next door neighbor lost their house due to an illness of the wife. The family panicked and took out a loan to cover the hospital expenses. The bank took over the house and it's on the market now. Yes he made a mistake. There was other ways to deal with that situation but that happens to a lot of people.
Comments: با کمال تاسف و تاثر با خبر شدیم استاد محسن زمانی یکی از بهترین داوران تاریخ فوتبال کشورمان پس از دست و پنجه نرم کردن طولانی با بیماری سرطان ، درگذشت . استاد محسن زمانی زاده 9 فروردین 1320 در شهر کرمانشاه . دبیرکل پیشین کمیته داوران ایران و آسیا در سال ۱۳۳۵شمسی عضو باشگاه نادر تهران و در ۱۳۳۹ عضو تیم ملی جوانان ایران شد. از ۱۳۳۷ با قضاوت در مسابقات آموزشگاهی کار داوری را آغاز کرد. در ۲۴سالگی داور بینالمللی شد. در کارنامۀ داوری او، چهار بار قضاوت بازیهای استقلال ـ پرسپولیس، بازیهای تیمهای اروپایی در دورۀ مقدماتی جام جهانی آلمان (۱۹۷۴)، بازیهای تیمهای اروپایی در دورۀ مقدماتی المپیک (۱۹۷۳)، دوبار قضاوت فینال ارتشهای جهان (۱۹۷۵ و ۱۹۷۶)، جام ملتهای آسیا (تهران، ۱۹۷۴)، فینال دو دوره جوانان آسیا (۱۳۵۱ و ۱۳۵۵) دیده میشود. دورههای تخصصی داوری را در انگلستان بهمدت دو سال از ۱۳۵۰، آلمان (۱۳۵۳) و ترکیه (۱۳۵۴) گذراند. در ۱۳۷۳ش با قضاوت دیدار تیم ملی ایران و سائو پائولوی برزیل از کار داوری کناره گرفت و به ریاست کمیتۀ داوران فدراسیون فوتبال ایران برگزیده شد. یاد و خاطره این مرد شریف جامعه داوری فوتبال کشورمان برای همیشه جاودانه باد .
Comments: That’s exactly what I mean. These are all excellent reasons and you should do it for these reasons. I just do not see healthcare as an even minor factor especially that you want to move around. I wish you a long and healthy life but if someone is battling a serious health issue everything stops and you want to have the best care in the world. I have a friend that is going through some serious challenges like Cardiomyopathy had to cut out heart muscle at Mayo Clinic. He now may have t-cell lymphoma or sarcoidosis (nasty stuff). With his US health insurance he was able to see the best doctors in the world for both conditions at Stanford and UCSF. They presented his case at a conference in San Francisco. This level of health care is worth something to me
Comments: Shahin, Healthcare is one reason but not the only reason I like to retire in Europe (Portugal). I like the vibe there. I enjoy the fact that people are much more relaxed and enjoy small things. I just enjoy the lifestyle. I’m not asking anyone else to agree with me or move with me. It’s just me. I have worked hard and done the “move up the ladder game”. I enjoy simple things in life now. I’m not arguing that America is a good place to retire or not. I’m sure it’s perfect for some. I prefer Europe. It’s also much closer to Iran. I love to be able to go see my family once or twice a year when I’m older. If I could upgrade to 1st class all the time, it would not matter I suppose but flying coach is better for flights under 6-7 hours. |
