Comments: I do not think anyone here know about what was going on in USA pre globalism, which was brought by Nixon, and expanded during Regan era. Nixon in my opinion was one of smartest presidents in US history. Anyway, what I am trying to say is, Western world and China were the main beneficiary of globalism. It changed the fabrics of society everywhere. It would be a suicide if someone try to take us back to those era. Technology change would be the first barriers. Nobody can know what would be like if someone attempt to do that. For sure, US will no longer be a super power. Will a group of countries make a pact? Imagine, China, Europe, Canada, Australia, Japan, Korea and India attempt to keep or even expand globalism. In that case, US will be indeed be fucked. The richest country on earth will turn into an isolated island eating corns for lunch and dinner. Capital and intellectual assets will be drained. This is what people fear the most about Trump and his allies.

Comments: I have been reading about the "Replacement Rate" or the "Total Fertility Rate (TFR)", how it is important and what the concern is. I recommend everyone to read about it and uderstant the significance of it. A birth rate of 2.1, or the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) of 2.1, is considered the "replacement level" for a population to sustain itself, meaning that, barring any migration and other factors, births are expected to roughly equal deaths. This means that, on average, a woman would need to have 2.1 children to replace herself and her partner, thus maintaining a stable population size. Dig in to it... Fascinating stuff ![]() Here's a more detailed explanation:
Many countries aim to maintain a TFR around 2.1 to ensure a stable population and mitigate demographic challenges.
Comments: Saeed, the things I post is not neccessary what I advocate or in agreement, they are just interesting articles with various views and very educational. About strong or weak dollar just in general even for our business it makes a difference. In business terms strong Dollar is a headwind, but is great for going to abroad for vacation. Weak vs Strong dollar: Business transaction by a US company: You make a deal to sell 1000 motorcycles to a european country for 1,000,000 euros. Condition 1: With each euro the buyer can buy 1 dollar, Conversion 1:1. You will receive 1,000,000 dollars. Condition 2: Dollar is strong and it goes up and now for each euro the buyer buys dollar for 90 cents. 1,000,000 euros times 90 cents is 900,000. And that is what you will receive, $900,000. You receive less. Now Vacation: You buy a bottle of wine in europe Condition 1: Last year you went to europe when Euro was one dollar. The price of the bottle of wine was 100 Euro and you paid $100 for it. Condition 2: You go to Europe and now Dollar is strong and each Euro is 90 cents. The price of the bottle of wine was 100 Euro and this time you paid $90 for it. You pay less. |
