Comments: Kamkar: I have been watching CNN, MSNBC & Al Jazeera coverages. I have to say that MSNBC is the most balanced. Al Jazeera covers mostly the Palestinian side and destruction in Gaza and their commentators mostly try to justify & say what did you expect. They really do not try to explain what the hell was Hamas thinking. CNN is opposite. MSNBC actually have couple of anchors one Egyptian and one Iranian that can clearly articulate and tell you both sides
Comments: We all know Hamas cannot destroy Israel. They also knew too well as what an Israeli reaction would look like. So what is winning to them right now considering what is happening to the people of Gaza. They knew these people would get massacred
Comments: https://www.yahoo.com/news/us-raises-death-toll-9-131001914.html Israel would never survive without AIPAC. American tax dollars at work
Comments: The Hamas attack was a Russia moment” for Israel. Not as strong as everyone thinks. So far IRI gave Israel a huge blow. Whether we like it or now IRI is the dominant power right now. Seems Americans call Hamas and Homus same thing.
Comments: Finally something Biden said that I agree with: «آنچه شاهد انجامش علیه غیرنظامیان اسرائیلی بودهایم، به آتش کشیدن خانهها و قتلعام جوانان در جشنواره موسیقی، وحشیگری در سطح داعش است.» Daesh, ISIS, Sepah Qods, Basij, Taliban, Abo haram,…… Common denominator?
Comments: The fact of the matter is that pre-israeil the middle east was not such a mess. Germany and Hitler committed a horrible genocide. The big triumphant powers should have cut off a piece of Germany and hand it over to the victims. Why did the Palestinians have to pay the price for Germany's crimes?
Comments: Farzad, I may be wrong, but some of the “ Jewish “ land pre 1948 was forcibly taken by means of terror , including massacres, by Jewish cheriks, including couple of former prime ministers. apparently one of the settlements that Hamas took over at the border, was built over the land that Ariel Sharon, forcibly took over from Palestinians. There are reports( rumors) the elderly couple taken hostage by Hamas may be relatives of Ariel Sharon. Menahim Begin was also infamous for his terrorist activities pre formation of State of Israel in raiding villages. Not sure, but Tal Zatar massacre may be attributed to him. Getting past that, I’m with Shahin on his wish. But that conflicts with the mandate of State of Israel as being Jewish land. State of Israel has become an undeniable fact, and in addition to many geo political issues, the dominant Zionist Ideology makes a unified state composed of christians, Muslims and Jews a not probable and viable solution.
Comments: I don't think the one state unification will work. For certain Israel does not want that. Very difficult to integrate at this juncture.
Comments:
Comments: Yes Farzad, that is basically what I meant that no state of Israel is a deal breaker. For me ideally I want a unification of Israel & Palestine in one state with a constitution that guarantees rights of both people. If somehow parties eventually work towards that
Comments: Shahin, Kmakar, Cyruss, and HAMVATAN. once again thank you all for your help and contribution towards Pishkesvatan in Iran. Monies received.
Comments: Absolutely Cyruss, My focus was only on Hamas and not losing sight on who they are. Yes life in Westbank is not a glory by any means but in comparison life in Westbank is just different and they are in a better shape. I just believe Hamas is just a bad mole. They persuaded Arafat not to go through the two state solution. Shahin, There are several maps we need to look at. First is the 1947 map which partitioned Jewish and Arab state. I dont think anyone disputes that, at that time no occupation took place and the UN formulated the partition plan of a Jewish and Arab state (overly simplified). The ones who dispute there should be no state of Israel are Hamas, IRI, and pretty much half of IFP2. ![]() Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, and Saudi declare war against state of Israel. In this war the 6 Arab nations lose and they lose some lands to israel. Upon the Armictice, or simply agreement for the ceaze fire they agree to the Armitice line in 1948-49. In addition as part of this agreement, Egypt takes over Gaza, Jordan takes over the West Bank. ![]() In the 1967 war Israel gained control over the Sinai peninsula, the Golan Heights, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem. Since then, Israel had peace agreement with Egypt and jordan. The sinai is back to Egypt as part of their peace deal, Gaza which was taken over by Egypt was given to the palestinians (Gaza) and West bank which taken over by Jordan essentially was given to the palastinians. And in between there were so many illegal settlement by Israel. The issues remain are East Jeruslem, and the Golan Heights. I dont tink Israel will give up Golan Heights as it is extremely stratigic for Israel. East Jeruslem should go to palistinians but managing that city is just a nightmare.
Anyways, here is Bill Clinton's proposal in 2000. Robert Malley was involved then too. 10_Clinton Parameters.pdf (usip.org)
Comments: Shahin well said. This is a situation that many players are benefiting from or will benefit. Not just Bibi and hamas. Both sides of the isles in US and in an election year will capitalize on it, opportunity for Russians and Europeans to divert attention from Ukraine, opportunity for KSA to establish themselves as the major player. In fact they have a lot to gain if they can drag IRI into this. Destruction of Ghaza, getting rid of Hamas by Israel and showing a big bilakh to IRI is what they could be wishing for. Eliminating Hamas from political picture will not be far from what Egypt wants also. Farzad mentioned some theory early, and I’m beginning to think about a bit more seriously. All this could have been a trap for all the above mentioned reasons by beneficiaries in addition to inflict some serious blow to IRI.
